Also, have you listened to his bass on Getting Better? It's amazing.
Yes, it is amazing! I especially like his little dance to the side of the stage midway through the song. So cute!!!

Hi everybody! I'm back from LA. I am truly IN LOVE......w/Southern California! Had a wonderful time and a couple of amazing experiences. Tried to hit all the high spots everyone told me about, but the beaches and Venice boardwalk captivated me, just as I expected. Didn't make it to the Getty, but that's about all I missed. Even checked out the gift shop at the LA County Coroner's Office........how many of you have ever been there??? Did I miss anything new here?
-
Brian is quite a nice person. I asked him if I could take his photo when I met him outside of the Cavern the night of Macca's private party there. He said sure and also insisted I take a photo of him with John Hammel, Paul's long time guitar roadie. Brian said John is one of the nicest guys around. Well, it takes one to know one. Quite a little hottie, too! ops:

LOVE this photo of Brian! He's so cute!! YoungGerl--excellent suggestions for LA! I'd forgotten about the location of Capital Records. Of course, it's not hard to miss whenever you are in the neighborhood. Harley Blues---are you willing to share your photos of Brian or plan to keep them a secret?? We'd love to see them. Dreamseer--have a great time in LA and tell us all about it whenever you return. Good luck with siting certain band members!!
I dont know how to posty them here?.....
Harleyblues, can your photos be scanned, then copied and pasted into this forum? Or are the photos digital? Beatlesrock-thanks for the link! Did you recognize Dreamseer's avator?

I've got to hear more about this??!!?? What does one find at the LA Cty Coroner's gift shop (dare I ask?). So glad you had a great time! Wasn't LA wonderful? I haven't been in about 3-4 years so it's about time for another trip. Florrie--are you able to share your photo with us? We'd love to see another great photo of Brian.
-
I had SUCH a great time I'm saving up for another trip. May take a while, but I plan to return soon! Saw and did all kinds of things, but didn't have time to do it all. Met some great people...made some new friends. I highly recommend Southern California to everyone!
-
Sorry...got interrupted and lost my train of thought. Some of you can probably relate to that......... The LA County Coroner's Office runs a gift shop called Skeletons in the Closet. Maybe I'm a bit morbid, but I thought it was great. What does one buy there??? Body bags and toe tags! The body bags are garment bags and the toe tags are key chains. They also have hats, shirts, pens, magnets, etc. Great place for picking up inexpensive souvenirs....especially for co-workers! Although, I bought my teenage son a T-shirt there and he now thinks his mom is "a very sick individual." Just think....I grossed out a teenage boy. How many of you can say that?? You can check out their website online. That's how I found it.
-
OH, I LOVE IT!! What a great idea...morbid, yes, but still a great idea! I will definitely put this on my list of new things to see. Only in LA, huh? What did your son's t-shirt look like? Did you buy yourself anything there or anywhere in LA?

ok well wait Im moving Im gawd awful ugly in that piccie!!~ ops: but I want it anyways!!! lol should ya posty it here..omg!!! fright night ......lmao!!

OH Darling, my son's T-shirt is just a black shirt w/LA Cty Coroner seal on the front and a chalk body outline on the back. I thought it was great! The duffle bags w/LA County Coroner on them should get a lot of respect in the airports, don't you think? As for myself, I rated a flashlight/pen and a keychain from there. I bought some other (cheaper) pens and keychains for co-workers. They thought they were cool. My step-grandson loved his keychain. He has it hanging in his truck. Other than a skirt, I mostly bought T-shirts for myself. I collect them and can wear them to work. I'm a very casual sort of person....jeans & T-shirts if at all possible. I spent most of my extra cash on stuff for my grandkids. Funny.........I have a lot of trouble picturing MY grandmother cruising Sunset Strip or checking out Muscle Beach!!! (To say nothing of the Coroner's Office!) But, oh, did I have FUN!!!!!! Can't wait to go back!
-
You sound like one cool grandma! LOVE the t-shirt design! I am putting the coroner's office on my list of places to visit on my next trip to LA. Anyone have any news about Brian and the band? I read that they are traveling to London this week to begin work on the new album. Can't wait to hear it!!
-
OK, Oh Darling.......be careful how you use that word "grandma"! I don't even allow my grandkids to use it! I'm a REALLY YOUNG grandmother!! I was really young when I had my son......and so was he when he had his! Don't make people think I'm over the hill just yet!! I haven't heard anything new about any of the guys either, except that they are in England to start recording. What I really want to know is......were they invited to Stella's wedding? Has anyone heard?
-
Dreamseer, I don't think there is any way anyone would ever confuse you with being old!!!! Age is merely an attitude! I'm guessing that the band was not invited to the wedding. I haven't read anything that would lead me to believe that they were there. I haven't read anything new so I'm just waiting patiently on some news about the recording session. I'd love to find some new photos of the band while they're working in the UK. By the way, I wanted to thank you for starting this thread. What a great topic!! It's been fun hearing about everyone's brushes with Brian. Thanks again!!
-
Paul and the band are in England - Brian is in England (faint)!!!!!!!! It's exciting. I'm thrilled that they're all working together again. It's just reassuring for some reason.
-
OH Darling, I'm glad you are enjoying all the stories about Brian. So am I. Just wish I had some of my own to share! Still, we haven't learned much more about him, have we? I thought for sure someone would post something about having gone to school with him or something! Does anyone know ANYTHING about him??? I read that Paul is going to be working with the band for the next 3 months, with the new CD coming out next year. Are they going to be in England that long? Has anybody heard that? By the way, OH Darling.......did I mention that I bought Japanese wood carving tools while I was in LA? Had to have them shipped home...didn't want to have them (or ME) confiscated on the plane!
-
You know you're right...we really didn't learn anything new but it's nice to know that everything we did hear was so positive. He was always gracious about having his photo taken with fans!! What a sweetheart! I predict in 2004, WE'LL have our own Brian stories to tell! I wish I knew more about the recording industry to know how long it took to record an album. Do they go for 3 months straight or get some sort of break from recording? I would imagine their goal is to finish the album before the baby comes or the holidays...whichever comes first. Dreamseer, are you going to be able to watch the A&E special next week of Paul & the band in Moscow? I don't have cable so will be watching the special with a friend who is also a huge fan. I'm looking forward to it! Trying to smuggle Japanese wood carving tools would had guaranteed you a spot on the 10:00 news!! Are you going to use them or will they only be for show? Great find!!
-
OH Darling, I certainly hope your prediction comes true!! 2004 would really be a great year! And you're right....Brian always seems to be very gracious and good-natured amidst all the hoopla. Yes, I have the A&E special marked on my calendar. Can't wait to see it. The wood carving tools were "found" on purpose. I had read that Anzen Hardware in Little Tokyo carries some of the best. That was one of the reasons we went to L.A. (It really was partly business, believe it or not.) And, yes, they have already been used. Although circumstances force me to work a "real" job, my business partner & I have a business on the side. We design and build custom wood furniture (along with some other artsy-fartsy things).

How wonderful to have a creative outlet and make it into a business!! I applaud you for doing so. What other sort of artsy-fartsy things do you design? I just read that Paul will be on Larry King Live this Saturday night (and it's not a repeat) Yippee!!

Are you anywhere near where Paul and the band are recording? Beatlesrock, I agree that it is reassuring that they are working together on this album. I hope this band stays together for a long time! They had great chemistry on stage so it's exciting to think about how that will translate in a recording session.
