"Make a new cult everyday!" - The Supernova Club
-
Picture Here Picture here This is the resurrection of the good old "champagne supernova"-thread; which should be a forum for like-minded people discussing all kinds of "alternative"-music. Bands and artists we might talk about in this thread are Oasis, The Go! Team , Belle And Sebastian, Adam Green, Moldy Peaches, The Strokes, Bob Dylan, Brigitte Bardot, Os Mutantes, various scandinavian/canadian/detroit-bands, all kinds of psychedelic- , mod-, and -modern indie-music (Arcade Fire, The Stars, The Pipettes, Dirty Pretty Things/Babyshambles)... The people contributing to this thread are officially called "beautiful people"... anyone can join the club! But to be honest... this thread is about ANYTHING*! There should be no rules... *lest we forget hot girls and football!
-
I see a familiar thread! Hi folks.
-
Hallo Vanessa! Good to have you back in the supernova...
-
Hey, Stefan. The Mighty Champagne Supernova returns! You mentioned many good bands in your introduction, but these bands I am not familiar with: Arcade Fire, The Stars, The Pipettes, Dirty Pretty Things/Babyshambles. It seems we have a lot to discuss here. Not just music, this thread just isn't the same with some pics of beautiful girls. And of course we must talk about football. I think that must be ok, cause where can we discuss it if not here? At least we can't be moved, we stay here for good this time! Hey, check out this video. I don't know if you've seen it, in case you haven't here is the link:
This song Cash Machine by Hard-Fi is great. I love it, the rest of the album as well. Very cool bass playing in this song. -
Oh I know and I love that video. Hard-Fi are very popular in the austrian indie-scene... this video was on heavy-rotation on the austrian music tv-channel GO TV around the release of the "Cash Machine"-single! I`ll tell you all about these bands you`re not familiar with tomorrow. Now I have to go. I have to do a radio-show which starts in a few hours and now I`ll have to meet up with the guy I`m doing the show with to prepare everything! http://orange.or.at ... ther you can hear the show, if you want to. if you want you can listen to the show via internet. It starts at 11 p.m., although it will be a disater today... I still have no idea what we will be doing today!
-
Hey there, radio star! I listened to your show, I didn't understand everything you said, but most of it. Cool music in the show, now I have finally heard the Pipettes, very good song I think. The best song you played was The Strokes song, what is it called? WTF! Your co-host doesn't like Liverpool FC! How can anyone not like them! Echo and the Bunnymen are a band I haven't listened to much, I don't have any of their albums. I really liked the song you played. I think it was a cool radio show, I wish we had something like that here in Oslo. Here it is the same f*cking songs played all over again, with all the same stupid adverts. I don't listen much to the radio anymore, so much crap music. I think you two were quite funny, keep it up!

well, I don`t think he was that serious about it. You know all that we talked about was nonsense. We didn`t even talk in our real voices, we just adapted roles... it`s just weird nonsense-comedy without any plan behind it Sometimes we do have a concept for the show but yesterday we just improvised; so what we talked about was basically just what was coming into out minds...

The Strokes song was "Heart In A Cage"... it`s from their new album. Very cool lyrics IMO! The Echo And The Bunnymen song was called "Rust". It`s from their 1999 album "What Are You Going To Do With Your Life". I really like that song! I also wanted to play something from "Ram", but we talked so much at the beginning of the show, that there was not enough time left at the end to play everything I had prepared...

hello everybody!!! Nice to see you

I understood the humour, the other guy almost sounded like he was angry. I understand that he can't talk like that all the time. Great songs! I'll check 'em out. This is exactly the kind of music I like.

After the show he told me that the character he was playing was inspired by an university-teacher, who`s quiet notorious in Vienna. Our fellow boardie Gabi (Anna_Medlicka) knows him too. His name is Gottschlich and he`s really talking that way!

Hi folks, how's your weekend going?
-
In 10 minutes I`ll have to leave for rehearsal... I`ll have to take my umbrella with me as there`s a big cloudburst at the moment!
-

You MUST check out Arcade Fire (you can find them on myspace for example). You can`t really describe what they`re doing... you have to listen! They`re probably the best, the coolest, and the most original band of our time... their approach is also an inspiration for what we`re trying to do with our new band with 7 members and so on... The Stars are a band in the same vein as Arcade Fire; maybe a bit more pop! They`re both from Canada... there are lots of these kind of bands coming from canada at the moment. It`s a very exciting scene... in vienna there are now lots of bands like us trying to go into that direction... parts of the austrian indie-scene are now all of a sudden heavily influenced by Arcade Fire and all the other new canadian bands... it`s almost like a boom at the moment!

Hey, Stefan. I checked out Arcade Fire on Myspace. I've heard four songs: Wake Up, Rebellion Lies, Cold Wind and No Cars Go. I think they're very good! The song I liked the most is Rebellion Lies. That's a great song! Thanks for all the info you posted about this band. People say that your dreams are the only things that save ya. Come on baby in our dreams, we can live our misbehavior.

A message board without Off Topic, how boring... How is everybody doing?
-
We can go off-topic in the champagne supernova as long as noone bothers, but sssh it`s a secret!
-
Not much activity here I see, gotta do something about that. I noticed the old thread is still in TMT, but it's locked! Why the hell did the mods lock it? Did they let you choose which one they should lock, Stefan? I had a great time in Amsterdam btw, not smoking weed, though. It's a f^cking beautiful city. You've got to go there sometime, Steff! Boat trips on the canals is cool. My team Rosenborg lost 0-3 at home this weekend, and guess who scored two of the goals. Roman Kienast from Austria. Thank you so much for sending these Austrians up here to score against Rosenborg... Not long till the World Cup starts.
