Tattoo signatures - yay or nay?

At the risk of offending some members of the board, I have to ask this question. I want to know what you all think. First of all let me say to everyone who has had Paul sign their arm/back wherever, that I am thrilled you got to meet him etc. But it seems more and more frequent. What started out as an original idea is becoming more and more widespread. Do you think it is appropriate he does this during concerts? Is it right that some people who also have signs "sign my ___" are left disappointed? I will wait until a few people respond before I give my opinion...I really hope I am not offending anybody

As someone who just got signed and tattooed in Toronto, I think this is a good question, as I've been wondering about it myself. He seems to seek these signs out during the concert now and always gets at least one person on stage, which I think is great for that person, and it does add some excitement for the crowd, but he's also getting one non-tattoo person up there too. I think he's resigned himself to the fact that he's going to be signing one person per show from now until he stops touring. shock My real question is how Paul feels about signing people--I wonder if he's weirded out by the experience of signing another human being... oops But again, I'm totally thrilled to have met him, I just wonder what his thoughts on this phenomenon are...

Jen, you and Sarah... I didn't want to offend you two in particular as I know you both recently got signed. OK, I will be honest, I don't really like how it has become so routine now.

I was thinking the same thing last week, after reading another 'he signed my arm' post. Awesome if the dude signed your arm but it's so not original anymore.

It's like with any Fan asking for an auto-graph whether is be on skin. paper, albums, clothes - it's all basically the same- what a fan asks or suggest is up to him or her.. I find it exciting will he or won't he- who is he going to sign for next etc.. will Paul respond? it's not a first time this has happened- fans have asked to have their hands or arm signed at book signings for example.. Paul has been signing albums for years, signing auto graphs posing for piccie's for years - he surely won't do it on his time off- does it make a difference what Paul signs?..where Paul McCartney signs on what? it's a Paul McCartney auto-graph which is priceless to the receiver- sure, I have asked and never got a siggy there is always next time~ there might be some disappointments, who knows it might happen for you the next time- it's fun & exciting especially for the fans(s) who receive them~
reguardless of how they are received! 
any kind of auto-graph is no original to it's location- there has always been someone before ...it does always start from somewhere

any kind of auto-graph is routine- how many thousands of auto-graphs has Paul signed in his life time... c'mon~

What makes you think I am totally against autographs? I am only referring to the ones that are turned into tattoos during concerts. Why isn't he so quick to bring folks onstage to sign an LP cover or something? In the current leg of the tour it's almost been a tattoo per show. What I mean is it's becoming more frequent during shows and I just wanted to get others opinions too.

like I said before what a fan requests is up to them... not everyone wants a siggy-tattoo-agraph~ some people like em some donot... why ruin their fun if you don't like it don't ask for one...

It is rather disappointing when you also have a "sign my __" sign and Paul chooses someone else or doesn't do it. I tried in Nashville and Paul saw it but chose Sarah (I AM TOTALLY HAPPY FOR YOU). I thought for sure he would in Charlotte but he didn't do anything but wave, and then you hear how he's signed a person at every show with the same sign since then. Heartbreaking, really.

Same happened to me in Dallas, (Dallas he said later & I shook my head like OK lol ) LA, San Francisco,Toronto~ we just never know.. and like some of Paul's team, said it depends on Paul's mood~ no one knows really~

Our time will come. believe me, when Jen came up to me in Toronto I sank, and was in shock & happy for her all at the same time~!!!~ I cried about 30 seconds on the plane not cry cry but my eyes watered alot. I'm OK now.. One never knows- it would be great to meet Paul & get a siggy-graph! soo.. it would even more fantastic if it was baordies here for years that got auto-graphs~ you can click my blog link below n see my latest post on Jen- then there is a piccie of us towards the bottom- giving me the great news

All I got to say is I think it's great--the person getting it gets to meet him in a very personal way, is signed up and all of us get something to talk about. If it was me, I don't have any tatoos so I would gladly settle for an autographed album or CD cover. Closest thing I got is a signed CD single for the Stranglehold single. I sent that over to the MPL office in 1986, picked that one because of it's white background with photo in the middle. Came back signed "Cheers! Paul McCartney" It's not personalized to me though so may very well have been done by what is called an autopen that is programmed to spit out a standard signature.

I'm trying not to. I don't like tattoos at all..but for Paul, I will make the exception.
