Tattoo signatures - yay or nay?

But, she wasn't the first one to get Paul's signature tattooed..
Who was?
A woman had met Paul a few times at in-store signings and whatnot and asked him to sign her arm at one in 2001. She liked it so much that she decided to get it tattooed. In the picture of her tattoo it was his name and "2001" underneath it. I found the article a while ago when I was curious about how many people had been signed. I'm having trouble finding it now because there are so many news stories about Rose Ann, but I'll keep looking.

^ Oh I know..that is the only thing about the tattoos that gets me, how she went straight to press and was everywhere, no mention of the other girls who were signed. And thanks for the info!

Here it is! http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/6174128.stm
Rosemary Preston, 54, from Woolwich, is a veteran: "I have met him several times before and he is always very nice. "The last time was in Liverpool and I asked to sign my arm, as I was raising money for charity, and I was so pleased with it I had it tattooed on.

Well..we all knew I'd chime in here eventually, right? First of all - don't worry about offending...this is an open forum and we all have a right to our own opinions. Plus - when it comes to meeting Paul - no one will be able to offend me. Now, I have mixed feelings about this in a way. For one, I OBVIOUSLY feel it's fantastic because it allowed me to meet my idol. It was literally one of the two happiest moments in my life and I wouldn't trade it for ANYTHING else. A few times I've thought maybe it is beginning to happen too often and it can make it seem a little less special. But then I really start thinking about it and the word "often" seems silly in this context. Thousands and thousands of people are at each show. I was called up in front of approximately 18,000 people in Nashville alone. At least half of which would have given anything to be in my shoes. So...once I let that sink in, I begin to realize how special it really is. As far as if it's fair that he chooses some, and others are left disappointed. Well...it is fair. It sucks (especially for fellow boardies who feel the same about him as I do), but it's Paul's choice in the in. It's not like he can stop the show and say, "OK - everyone who wants an autograph, come on up!" But - I certainly give a big "yay" as my vote. I hope he continues this phenomenon, in hopes that people like Harleyblues and BarbB have their moments. They deserve them as much as anybody!
ahhh Sarah~ yeah, I mean why question it. ?? It's very cool and I can't express how cool enuff it is.. how often do u get the oppurtunity to meet Paul McCartney? You meet Paul , you're shaking in your shoes, you get that awesome autograpbh & the crowd goes wild!!!! and incredible experience~ PRICELESS!
Paul signed the back of a woman in Philly last night...she was a brunette and appeared to be maybe in her mid 30"s??
Good for you, I think it is wonderful for all those people who had the opportunity to get an autograph...your very lucky. I hope it happen to me one day, but I would like a picture with him. javascript:emoticon('')

In Paul's defense though he did a sign a guy and three older ladies..
May I asked where he signed a guy and the "older" women that I have seen were not 1st generation fans. I don't think any of them were in their 50s or 60s.
And again how many first generation fans do you think would want a tatoo anyway. Amongst the diehard first gens that I know the universal response is ewww, and or never.
I have four tattoos already. I'd love to have Paul's autograph between the Wings logo and the Beatles logo. Signing outside LIPA and the guy got it after an autograph on the street--not at a concert. Totally different.

If anything, take advantage of the fact that Paul loves to do it! Make a sign and go for it, maccascruff! I can already imagine Paul: "Usually we get the young girls up here wanting tattoos, but tonight we've got a guy my age! Get up here!" You might not get a kiss on the cheek though

Maccscruff is female just for your info and Paul can be very effectionate with males (although maybe ones he actually knows) I'm interested that he hasnt yet done this in the UK or Europe when he has obviously had the chance

You can be sure you're in the minority, but did you have a poster and ask, assuming you've been to any recent shows?
-
A million apologies! I thought that because of the comments about Paul not pulling up a first generation fan or a male that you were both of those! I'm so sorry, I didn't meant to offend!! ops: Still though, you should go for it!
-
Yeah - in London Hyde Park he had the chance to sign some girls butt! ops: Turned that one down...lol. hilarious.
-
And another thing..I don't see guys holding up the sign asking for a tattoo at these shows either.

There have been guys onstage to sing with him (twin voice in Mexico) & another younger boy dancing...where was that? I just saw a utube & someone wanted to play the drums in SoAmerica.

Yeah he a brought a little boy up on stage in Nashville during Get Back, and then in Mexico a man came up to sing with him at soundcheck.
-
And you can't use the excuse that Paul only picks the ones up front, because one lady was on the side section and aakiboh was in section 4 I think?
-
^ prolly safe to say that we ALL want to be near him(onstage) or at least listen to him & his music more & more.
