Tattoo signatures - yay or nay?

Yes it's become part of the act now...
A nice part of the show, indeed. I'd rather witness someone getting the thrill of a lifetime by getting their arm signed than going to, say, a Barenaked Ladies concert and dogding flying raw macaroni noodles.

It is a tradition for fans to bring raw macaroni noodles to their shows and throw them all around the crowd. The band gets in on it, as well. So, to reiterate: I'd rather experience a concert tradition of seeing someone getting an autograph on their body from the great Macca -- than dodging raw macaroni at a Barenaked Ladies concert. Hmmm... Macca-roni? Uh-oh.

Well, at least it's veggie.

In Paul's defense though he did a sign a guy and three older ladies..
May I asked where he signed a guy and the "older" women that I have seen were not 1st generation fans. I don't think any of them were in their 50s or 60s.

Certainly. The lady was in her 50s that he signed outside of LIPA in July during the graduation ceremony, I'm too lazy to google the story about her and the pic. Here is the young man who met Paul on the street and had it signed, before and after:

And -- although we kept it low-pro at first -- Paul did sign my butt after the Nashville gig. We were drunk.

He looks a lot like Joe Strummer. Lucky dude.

And again how many first generation fans do you think would want a tatoo anyway. Amongst the diehard first gens that I know the universal response is ewww, and or never.

What? You find a tender moment between an idol and his fan to be ... crack-up-able? I'm so hurt.
-
The real question is - are "diehard" fans the only fans to get tattooed? I could be a diehard fan, except that I really hate tattoos and would never get one. Is part of the shocker when Paul signs a person at a concert "oh my god, they love Paul so much they want his sig on them?" Do you know what I mean? My head is a bit fuzzy tonight, I can't explain well.
-
I agree, I haven't heard of an older fan wanting a signature tattoo, and don't even get me started on first generation vs. second generation fans-that's just an ugly topic. For most audience members the signing is not routine, it's just as exciting and unexpected as it was for those at Halifax. I get that Audrey was the first up on stage, she had a brilliant idea! But, she wasn't the first one to get Paul's signature tattooed and Paul is not the first person to sign people for tattoos so I don't see what all the fuss about being first is anyway. Even if Paul signs people for the rest of his days, nothing will cheapen my experience! I stand by what I said earlier. Nobody is mad about Paul signing albums and shirts and he's done that millions and millions of times. Don't be mad that I like to have my autograph on my shoulder or that Paul McCartney decided the stage would be the best place to do it

Crack up? He signed what? Were you the maytag guy with the crack?

I'm not mad. I witnessed you getting yours and was very happy for you. I don't know why anyone would be mad at Paul doing this. Turned out to be a fun part of the show. After 35+ shows I'm happy for anything a little different.
