Imagine having a job where you're around giant fields of flowers all day.

That would be awful to be allergic to flowers! My first job was at a florist, it was heavenly to be around all the flowers. The miracle of flowers and their different fragrances... One of the world's most beautiful flower paintings... Jan Davidsz De Heem, Vase of Flowers at the Mauritshuis 1670
The detail is unbelievable !

Thinking of Hong Kong and how cool it would be to go there for the Chinese New Year!

It's not too bad.

That would be horrible. That's like being color blind. You're missing out on a very large part of the world.

Those fireworks are really beautiful! I wonder if it's cold there in February?
-
It's slightly less humid than the rest of the year. Did I read somewhere that you live in Colorado? If so, I guarantee you'd find Hong Kong winters warm and very mild.

I've lived there, amongst many other states! Colorado is not that bad actually. It's very dry, so the cold is not as bone chilling. It also snows one day and warms up a lot to melt it the next day... It hardly ever rains as well...

Lived near Boulder CO which was so beautiful and also Yuma AZ which was in the desert of Arizona. Also very beautiful. Love NM too! You can't go wrong in any of that Big Sky Country... It's all so amazingly picturesque. I did miss the Ocean, and it takes about an hour or so to go places, however, that's just part of the large scale of it all.
took trips all over and one place is nicer than the other...it's difficult to decide!!

I was on a road once in Colorado, and it had a bit of altitude, just enough so that you could see the Front Range stretch out in both directions....and then Long's Peak behind it a bit. Also a bunch of other mountain peaks. I always think of how nice it would be to have that view! Priceless!!! Then the views in the mountains, I remember Vail when it was up and coming. Rocky Mountain National Park, Winter Park, Red Rocks, the stars and the auroras you can see in the Mountains while hot tubbing, Dinosaur National Park, Glennwood Springs, Gunnison and Loveland Passes
...Santa Fe, was such a cool town in NM and the long ride between Colorado and Arizona... Then Arizona with its sagauro and ocotillo cactus, the buttes and mesas, warm winters, wide open spaces and all of the cool Indian presence and turquoise jewelry, the painted clay pots, even going through Winslow for the first time and thinking of the Eagles, the Painted Desert and Petrified Forest and Meteor Crater, the ghost towns and the Grand Canyon, Sedona, Montezuma's Castle and the Mexican border towns. It is so difficult to choose !

Most places in Colorado seem to get too much snow & that is one of things we can do without. But then when you think of Az...it's all cactus & prickley things for a dog to get into trouble with. There was just an article in the paper about Los Cruces & that looks pretty cool with the Organ mountains right there. But there too is the cactus problem.

The snow in Colorado melts a lot quicker, than it does where I live, on the East Coast! Unless you are in the mountains, that is. I loved Colorado! Las Cruces is so close to the first nuclear explosion from the White Sands Missle area. Personally I wouldn't live that close to that, or in Nevada, close to those test sites. Radiation half life is tremendously long. It is so hot in the summers, you can't tell the difference if you're in an un airconditioned car, whether you have the windows rolled up, or down, it feels the same! Yuma was 70° in the winter and about 120° in the summers. It doesn't cool down appreciably at night, either. There are a lot of cactus, but unless your dog would eat it, (like mine did), then you're ok! More of a problem are the scorpions, millipedes which are huge, poisonous snakes and spiders like tarantulas... They're all part of the many critters of the Southwest. They are amazingly beautiful for the most part! Scorpions can be a problem as they like dark places to hide, like your shoes!
the others like the millipedes and tarantulas, I just kept my distance
the horned toads are so cute! Still you don't want your dogs sniffing at some of these critters!

Well...I guess we may need to rethink this a bit. Thanks so much for your thoughts. What about southern Utah around St George? Have you ever lived around there? What, was your dad in the service that you moved around?

Yes, he was... That's why I love 2 travel
I lived in the southwest after high school though, and lived with friends. I've only been through the Salt Lake region on one of my drives cross country. I did a lot of craft shows all over. I would like to visit it more, it's beautiful! This is a beautiful country!

Yes, indeed it is a beautiful country. And a beautiful world!
