Video de la canción con los astronautas (AP) - ANAHEIM, California, EEUU (AP) _ Los dos tripulantes de la Estación Espacial Internacional fueron despertados el domingo por una actuación de Paul McCartney, quien les cantó en directo desde la Tierra. Fue el primer enlace de comunicaciones en directo a la estación espacial para ofrecer un recital en la historia. En la Tierra, el ex integrante de los Beatles interpretó las canciones "Good Day Sunshine" y "English Tea", ante una multitud de admiradores en Anaheim, como parte de su gira de conciertos por Estados Unidos, que durará 11 semanas. La actuación fue transmitida a los tripulantes de la estación, el estadounidense Bill McArthur y el ruso Valery Tokarev, quienes se ubicaban 354 kilómetros arriba de la Tierra. El enlace fue transmitido por la TV de la NASA, que mostró las reacciones de los tripulantes. McArthur y Tokarev flotaban mientras bebían un líquido colocado en bolsas de plástico, durante el show, y fueron ovacionados de pie por los asistentes al concierto. "No puedo creer que estemos transmitiendo esto al espacio", dijo McCartney. "¡Es sensacional, me encanta!" McArthur, quien hizo un par de giros en el aire, destacó los logros artísticos de McCartney y le agradeció por dedicarles las canciones. "Fue simplemente magnífico", dijo McArthur. "Lo consideramos a usted un explorador, como nosotros". Es una tradición el despertar a los astronautas con canciones grabadas, pero esta fue la primera vez que los tripulantes escucharon música transmitida en directo al espacio. A McCartney se le ocurrió la idea cuando supo que el Control de la Misión de la NASA usó su tema "Good Day Sunshine" para despertar a los astronautas del transbordador Discovery en agosto, con un mensaje de que había condiciones favorables para regresar a la Tierra. Los tripulantes han pasado 44 días en la estación, dentro de una estancia prevista de seis meses.
