What makes you smile?

Vermeer makes me smile. Love2travel must have seen Vermeer this time? I discovered his etchings online and think "The Hare" is lovely. It is like you can see every little rabbit hair on it.

Sorry, not Vermeer, don't know why he is on my mind. It is Albrecht Durer, " The Young Hare." http://www.bbc.com/culture/story/20150123-7-masterpieces-you-cant-see ^^ article shows the etching.

Just saw the enlargement! How extraordinary and to see the reflection of the studio windows in his eyes...it won't be on display again until 2018! The paper is resting! I would love to see that one!!! How lucky for you, if you saw it Kittay! That really made me smile! Saw some paintings in the Maritshuis Museum in da Hague, from the Dutch Golden Age paintings that were so incredible. Animals and flowers that were so incredibly lifelike down to small moths, caterpillars and shells in the painting. http://img1.findthebest.com/sites/default/files/3088/media/images/_788675_i0.jpg It was even finer than this photo is able to show! the hairs on the bearded iris were visible! It must have been painted with a several haired brush!

The best!! Oh now I want some! This beautiful painting was stolen. Hope it comes back from wherever, it's so spectacular. Wondering if a Christian stole it?! https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/f3/Rembrandt_Christ_in_the_Storm_on_the_Lake_of_Galilee.jpg

Watching our twin granddaughters eat chocolate cupcakes yesterday & having vanilla frosting all over their little faces. Too cute. Of course we cleaned them up good before their mama came to pick them up! They get spoiled at our house 'cos no one spanks grandmama & grandpa

It's amazing how many great works of art have been stolen.
