Those are my basic chocolate cookies, cooked and cooled, with shredded coconut on top and then covered in tempered chocolate with a little more coconut on top. The cookies: 1 stick butter 1 cup sugar 1 egg 1 tsp vanilla Mix butter & sugar, add egg & vanilla. 1 cup flour 6 Tbs cocoa 1/2 tsp baking soda 1 chocolate bar, chopped up pinch of salt Mix flour, cocoa, baking soda, chocolate, salt. Gradually stir flour mix into butter mix. Bake at 350 for about 10 minutes. The tempered chocolate was 2 Dove dark chocolate bars. The brand doesn't matter, but dark chocolate always tempers better. More often than not, I roll the dough up in plastic wrap and keep it in the refrigerator before I cook it. That way, I can slice off as many cookies as I want and its easier to manipulate. I posted a picture of mint cookies a while back and that's exactly how I made those. I sliced off thin pieces and sandwiched the mint in between. When it cooks, it all melts together as a cookie with a mint center.

That was awesome. Just one second of Gene Kelly right after Rita Hayworth and Frank Sinatra and it's obvious what a difference training makes.
