It's a bit of a twist and turn making like for like comparisons as the US Gallon is smaller than the Imperial (UK) Gallon. I drive a diesel engined vehicle with diesel costing an average £1.3638 per litre according to http://www.petrolprices.com/ After several conversions that's $10.085 per UK gallon or $8.39 per US Gallon. Most of which is UK fuel duty and VAT both of which have been raised by the UK Government recently by way of revenue generation (and supposed "green" disincentives to discourage fuel use and encourage alternate transport and lifestyle choices). There is a growing lobby to get the government to review the loading of tax as the real price of oil is forced up by world demand as it is having a disproportionate effect on business. There is talk of a fuel escalator formula that would stabilise the price at a fixed level by reducing tax levies as world oil prices rise - so long as we accept increased taxes again if oil prices fall. Some way to go on that debate though. Martin
Martin had a very good link here that is still active and current.

They doubled the tax on gas. Now it is 3.10 for regular i n the bubs but in the city it's up to 3.70

Up up & away. $3.40 today in the burbs.

Holy crap oobu! I got gas yesterday which was $2.49, but got 15 cents off with my Kroger card, so $2.34/gal. I don’t drive very much now that I’m retired - hadn’t filled the tank since May 28th!

Yeah, they doubled the tax on gas, cigarrettes & a few other things. I drive every day but just to the park to do our 2 mile walk or to Petsmart to walk when the weather is bad.

$1.23 / litre. Long weekend coming up so of course it will rise.
-
Wow, I had to dig around for this thread because I wanted to find the link to show gas prices in your area.
Boy, prices have dropped along with the stock market.
-
Here in KC, I paid $1.79 today.
-
Chicago burbs, 2.09
-
I paid $1.80 last week at a Shell. But OMG, they've come down drastically since then!!

While Russia and Saudi Arabia keep fighting, prices will stay low. We've got low gas prices and can't travel here in some states now !

You've got to be freaking kidding me! That's what a car is for! How would I possibly carry all the groceries? I also should have added that it's more like a mile since we live in the back of the subdivision.

That's good! I hate walking outside (too hot or too cold and too boring) That's why I got a treadmill in 2014. It has a fan I can put on low or high, plus I have a ceiling fan. Also a TV on the wall to watch while I walk.
-
Goodness! You remember the date of when you got your treadmill? haha. I have one too (in front of a tv) but I enjoy the fresh air & the people that you bump into at all the different parks that I go to.
