Thanks guys and gals.... In the cold light of day with a cup of coffee in my hand they're ven more astonishing... They make me emotional and feel insignificant. I'm starting to well up.....where's the tissues? They say that there are 5 to 10 times as many stars, planets and galaxies in our universe than they first thought and that there may be even more......

Stunning NEW photos!! Thanks for posting those David! I'm just now re-reading my New England Starwatch book and it has the most amazing photos of various other nebula as well.....just breathtaking, really. The more I read about the vastness of the solar sytem and see it's incredible beauty, the more awestruck I become......so, so facinating!!! :

Claudia611 How you diddlin' ? Laudy Claudy!.........all of it makes my brain 'urt (and puts my eyes on stalks) just thinking how big it all is. Some of the galaxies are 3,500 lights years across..... .......that's almost as big as my butt..... I think, looking at the photos, there might just be aliens up there.....somewhere. I mean, they could easily hide. It's scarier to think that we're alone in the vastness of it all than of aliens lurking spying on us from behind some gascloud. As for black holes...now thats scary!...

Aye Up....David Michelson : see.....I'm learning from the SPOKEN ENGLISH thread Speaking of the celestials, how is the sweetest guy on the planet??? I am "diddlin' just fine hope you are too!! I'll have to add that word to the list. Oh, yeah, I believe there's life on other planets....gotta be. I have heard many theories on the subject over the years, some of which have a direct spiritual connection. It's interesting to note too that most astronauts DO believe in God. 'BE GLAD OF LIFE BECAUSE IT GIVES YOU THE CHANCE TO LOVE AND TO WORK AND TO PLAY AND TO LOOK UP AT THE STARS" - Henry VanDyke

Claudia611 Dahhhhhling! How's the foxiest woman in PM land....(that'll set the rest off.... ). Love the Van Dyke quote....very true! Some believe this is my universe.....and the life you The Laudy Claudy are leading is your universe......ie, everyone exists in their own version of the universe and then when you kop it you start all over again same everything except you try and live your life better. Do I believe this? As much as I believe the moon is made of cheddar cheese.... : It's all mind-blowing isn't it? God (whatever/whoever) must exist in some form when you see stuff like that. Question is who made God? Being an historian I'm very much a facts over faith man (it's the way I'm wired so no one complain) after all who wired me? That's right, God! They say the black holes at the centre of almost every galaxy were there before the planets/stars/solar systems etc and that they actually formed the various galaxies by pulling it all together. Unfotunately they are also sucking them all gradually in towards their centre and total oblivion.... Our location on the outer edge should save our arses from being incinerated for a few million years.....

Aye Up David Michelson..... Top of the mornin' to ya, me doves, and the rest of the day to me BTW, you had me at 'Dahhhhhhhhhling" nothing ruffles me feathers more than calling me THAT I agree, all this stuff is mind boggeling to say the least, but it sure does keep life interesting doesn't it? I don't believe in re-incarnation either.....just doesn't sit right with me at all no matter how I think about it. I have studied the Bible at length and believe there is much wisdom to be gleaned from it, however there always exists the problem with interpretation. I believe that there is a Supreme Being that speaks to us through the beauty of nature (his creation) if we will only listen, and I have had several (nothing short of spectacular) spiritual encounters that have manifested themselves directly through nature that I will cherish forever. WHOA ....I just got a chill as I was thinking of putting a Bible verse here, so I reached for my Bible and opened it and this is the first thing I read: "When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, What is man that you mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him, You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with Glory. PSALM 8

Claudia611 Hello dahhhh......oh no let's not start that again, I don't want to be responsible for the consequences. Lord knows what kind of state you'll be in..... The house I grew up in was haunted and it started 6 years after my father died in there. It continued for years, always nice stuff mind. The smell that permeated the rooms when it was happening made me believe that my father was making some sort of regular guest appearences. Surely there was no way after 8 years that his smell would still be in the house especially after getting rid of his things and the furniture. Makes you wonder whether we do get the chance to come back. Good Lord, talking of guest appearances...... .....it's amazing what old tat you can find ont' net. Here's my ex-girlfriend from many, many moons ago playing the magician's assistant in this Mr Bean sketch.....PS...the magician's her dad.

Aye Up David Michelson! I looooove that greeting!! You used it once time and I couldn't get it out of my head. Anyhoo..sweetums, I was so suprised to see that video of your (ex) and her Dad doing a skit with no other than MR. BEAN!!!!!???? I use to watch him on PBS quite often a long time ago when he first came out. WOW, that was really neat!! She was lovely by the way Have you kept in touch with her through the years and did she go on to do bigger and better things? Do tell. Inquiring minds would like to know Oh, and that was very interesting what you said about your Dad and how you had been sensing his presence through his smell after many years. I can think of a few possibilities with regard to that.... I have always been a very sensitive person and I my sensories, such as sense of smell and intuition are heightened. If I think of someone or something very intensely I can actually smell them or things associated with them....it's true....it happens all the time to me. Maybe that was happening with you and your DaD, or maybe God just allowed it to happen to comfort you in your time of grief as you mentioned it was always a pleasant experience. PS...I thought of you yesterday cause I saw a little child waiting for a bus and she was carrying a large totebag and it had a big picture of BETTY BOOP on it..... everything old is new again!!
-
Claudia611 Ay oop pet..... The ex is still an ex thanks to some sneaky lying little creep who got hold of a big wooden spoon 25 years ago and stirred it big time.....and so she no longer speaks to me, and all my bestest pleading didn't cut any ice. Hey ho what can you do? Her loss! The business they call show is not at all fluffy and the back stabbers are everywhere. Shame, coz she was lovely and we had it good there for a while. Betty is always popular but I think now it's her image or the parents influence. I mean do they still produce or show Betty cartoons anywhere? I haven't seen them on TV since I was an egg. Here's the strangest BB cartoon.....
I posted that a while ago.....and it's still V V strange. They'd been sniffing the vapour rub too closely again before they produced that one. As for my dad.....well, there's no way he would have put in an appearance for me or anyone else if he had the chance to be on the golf course upstairs or lounging suppin' ale at the 19th hole.... So probably means it was him trying to get a message across. I remember one night, around one in the morning, I'd just turned off the light and I heard something downstairs so went to investigate. I went down clutching my cricket bat and found all the doors downstairs wide back to the wall. Strange that coz I'd closed them all 30 mintues earlier.... There was no one else in the house! SPOOOOOOKY!! -

SPOOOOOOKY!!David dearest...Happy Sunday Morning! That's a cute little story about your ex ....It brought to mind a similar experience I had with a former fling whilst I was in was in twenties and a jealous friend....he tried to ruin everything, but didn 't succeed. Since I now know you like SINATRA as I do, here's a little tune of his that I especially love, that'll take you back down memory lane Enjoy IT WAS A VERY GOOD YEAR ....FRANK SINATRA http://www.truveo.com/search?query=frank+sinatra+it+was+a+very+good+year#frank%20sinatra%20it%20was%20a%20very%20good%20year%20 As for that BETTY BOOP cartoon, you're absolutely right. That WAS really whacky!! creative though....enjoyed it! Reminds me of Walt Disney....they say he did a lot of drugs and look at the amazing things he came out with, right? Go figure. As far as your Dad....who knows really what these manifestations really are, we can only speculate. At least, as you say, yours have been pleasant ones. I had a amazing one right after my Dad passed away...maybe I'll share it with you at another time.

Moggy dear.....you are absolutely right and I thought of THAT fact and your thread as the subject just happened to come up inadvertantly in my converstation with David. I usually don't get into religion and politics too much, as it just seems to open up a can of worms. Perhaps I should rethink my feelings about talking about spiritual things, at least, cause I see that it can become quite interesting to say the least. Perhaps, I will visit your "What Do I believe" at some point and share some personal experiences that I have had with regard to the subject
