LOVE the juxtaposition of the old black & white photos with the color much more gossipy adverts on the right side. Funny.

Yeah, typical Daily Mail.... They had a DM video of the terrible tragedy in Japan yesterday but before they showed the destruction and loss of life.....they showed a promo for the new Rhianna tune..... : It's a dreadful right wing paper (I'm socialist) but it's a good site compared to most that throws up some reasonable articles once in a while and it's also good to keep an eye on what the conservative right, middle England types and white van drivers are up to..... The photos themselves are wonderful.

Our local paper had some photos of the devastaion in Japan on the front page while the NY Dailu News Sunday Edition had photos of the horrific bus crash on the Whitestone Expressway of the bodies & few survivors on the way back from the casino. I hate when there's this type of terrible stuff on the front pages.

Right me darlings, I've posted this before but I think the time has come to give it a good airing once more. This is fascinating (no truly it is!) because this House and Studio is on Rodney Street in Liverpool, behind LIPA and the street where Brian Epstein was born. The project ran for many years before being taken over by those dear souls at National Trust, kept going through the hard work and love of a small band of volunteers.....their patron was Lady Linda McCartney. The patron after Linda passed away was Mike McCartney. I was involved in monitoring best restoration and conservation practice on the project for various funding agencies. Enjoy....

Lovely, David, just lovely! Did you get to chat with Mike Mac at all? He is a lovely person, Funny, charming, smart. I need a nudge to find the wallpaper scraper!
-
GYPSYGIRL Helloooo there me lovely!.... I did speak to Mike, but mainly about the project. Truth be told he was generally cornered by types trying to ingratiate themselves with the Macca clan every time I was in close proximity. I've never seen such sucking up as I saw the night the house and archive project was opened at the Library in the centre of Liverpool. Mike stood with his drink in his hand, dressed in a purple/dark blue tartan frock coat and cream silk evening scarf looking like a rabbit caught in the headlights of oncoming traffic! They swarmed around the guy and he just looked uncomfortable and like he wanted to be somewhere else. Certainly that's what I felt....I could be wrong, he might have actually enjoyed it. T'would have been nice to have spoken to him about his life and photography etc. I keep trying to get the re-interpretation gig of the McCartney house at Forthlin Road but to no avail. If you're looking in Mike I think a quick call to NT and a suggestion that the house needs a makeover and new permanent exhibition and that you know a lovely bloke who'd do the job for nowt! I would do the gig for nothing....wouldn't we all?!

David, me chum! Mike Mac is much happier when approached about his projects & almost anything but brother Paul. He's a right charmer & full of the devil & very intelligent too! I'm in the process of stripping some horid fruity wallpaper border that isn't even waist high! Once that's done, it'll be time to look at paint. Now if I can only nudge my darling to get off his arse & take care of a few simple things on my "Honey Do" List!

Kenneth Dodd esq. Stand up comedian who is liable to stay on stage and perform his act until 2 in the morning.....
His bit from long ago with The Beatles.... A programme about this Liverpool lad...... -
Britain's greatest stand up comedian.....Max Miller. In an innocent time he was outrageous. He always wore a flamboyant silk flowery suit.....with his little white book and little 'blue' book full of clean or naughty jokes he teased this audience just after the outbreak of WW2......
Here's another show pre-war...... and late in his career..... ...a rare snippet of him on film..... -
David, you find the most interesting bits! Sigh, I need a nudge to stick some letters in our mailbox. But in the meantime, some George Carlin for fun:

Those photos are very cool! I'm in the sign business so it was neat to see the old fashioned craft of hand lettering...which we still do. And did you see that pic with the dog? I think I saw him down the block!
