hey there, David: Yes, I have an underactive thyroid gland. Just was diagnosed about 6 years ago. But we also have another thing in common, our eyes! Yes, well I have been reading about your eye surgery and am hoping all works out for you. Last year I lost the vision in my left eye. Not all of it, but when I look at things with just that eye I see an 'eclipse' type pattern, as I had 12 retinal hemmorhages, on I think, the 5th layer of my eye...wherever that is. Anywho, there is nothing the 'specialists' can do, as it irrepairably damaged my photoreceptors and it cannot be fixed. I learn to live with it...watch out for me on the road driving! But I am an organ donor, hope they don't need an eye! I think it is wonderful you got some of your vision corrected, hopefully, by someone donating thier organs. I am sure the surgery was just horrendous, scary and all that. I am actually thankful 'they' can't repair myvision so I won't have to go through surgery. I really do hope your eye gets better. Someone recently told me to envision my eye as already healed, etc...so that is what I do every now and then, who knows maybe it will work? I love the art of the dude who drew the NY skyline. Really cool.

hey_kittay Isn't that bizarre? The things about our eyes...... Mine is a rare viral glaucoma called ICE and is a bugger having been around for 8 years and 10 operations now. Unfortunately it's much the same as yours, there's no hope, too rare, no cure....BUGGER! Hopefully there'll be something they can come up with for you and I. The inroads they're making into things through medical science/DNA nowadays will hopefully provide some respite or cure for us eventually.......when I'm 96 probably..... I should try the positive thinking thing, that's a good idea, it's worth trying. Thing about the thyroid is that it takes down your immune system and I don't think it ever gets back to the way it should be. I still have foggy days. Then of course I have the Post Viral thingy which can be a direct result of having one of the following - IBS or Glandula Fever or Flu or (surprise, surprise) a Thyroid condition (it has more or less the same symptoms too....mmmmm, double the pleasure.... ).....so that's DOUBLE BUGGER! So take care around colds and flu's etc.......coz the thyroid condition is a bleedin' cakewalk compared to Chronic Fatigue/Post Viral Fatigue. Talk about WIPEOUT.... To think I used to stride around the place, life and soul of the party (admittedly no one ever came to the party when they found out I was there but that's by the by) and super fit, now I am crumbly and want to find a corner and go to sleep for about six months. I extremely grateful to the kind, dearly departed soul who donated their cornea. One day I'll do the same hopefully, just not yet!

Sometime in January, I'll be going to have my cataracts looked at again. Hopefully by then the dr will say I can have surgery on both eyes. Since my late father had surgery for a detached retina, they don't want to rush my catract surgery. They discovered that having cataract surgery too soon can result in detached retina. In the meantime, I've found my dream house & it's within our price range. Now if only my husband will do something about getting a bid in. He saw the house online & loves it too. Sigh

David....that was a precious!!! I adore children for their honesty, and many of them that are so tradgically stricken with a disease, are so beyond their years, I've noticed.. You can't help but marvel at the things that come out of their mouth...they are so brave!! We can all certainly learn a lesson from them. This child leaving these messages for her family to find later was truly one of the most touching things I have ever heard...brought me to tears..

David, and sometimes, when one has to do what is best for their children, it breaks your heart, even tho' you know that you are planning for their future when you'll no longer be here to take care of them. I have a friend who adopted a child who is severly autistic & will one day have to be placed in a group home.

You have a rare and precious gift......you have psychic abilities..... I'm taking my wee nuisance to see the film this weekend.......I'm taking myself actually.....
-
Not the first time that I've been told that! Same here......This one was more for me than for my children, and I absolutely LOVED it!!! Your son will love it, as will your wee nuisance ......It is fantastic!!! We had a blast! The moviegoers actually cheered at the end...Good stuff! Would love to read your thoughts after seeing the film.
