The ..2012.... Political thread
-
You know what I find most humorous about this thread? Is both sides saying the same exact things about the other side. Stereotyping, both sides....complaining rather than doing something.....both sides. Neither side is in the right, IMO. Sure I go one way more than the other, but reading this thread makes my head spin. What you post about the "other" side is exactly what you are doing yourself.....

I'm just defending my President.

How do you know that we are not 'doing something' away from here to further our goals: This is just a music site with a political thread which I won't let go to lies. But this is about .0001% of what I do to advance my political goals.

I'm on the "other" side of yours, but my head is also spinning reading through this thread. I drop in every once in awhile, but yeah, pretty rough stuff.

Not to gang up on ya', but -- yes -- I typically vote Democrat/Independent, but I am not blindly loyal to the Party. Still, it is alarming that the Republican politicians would rather see this country go into a deeper recession so that they may be politically successful come November. At least, that's how I interpret their obstructionism. And, as a pro-woman kinda' guy, initiatives like the Ultrasound Bill that just passed in Indiana(?) is cause for alarm -- big-time!

For instance, just a few minutes ago the senate (all repubs voting in block) rejected an amendment to specify that any oil that would come from the xl pipeline could not be exported and that all materials to build the pipeline come from the US....repubs rejected in mass. Some on this thread support the pipeline thinking that the oil would come to the US. They are so misinformed it boggles the mind Misinformation is a major reason people misvote.

And, of course, keeping in tradition, somebody from the other side will post a link to an article that Obama might've proclaimed that Taliban is "misunderstood."

I'm only interested in facts. So if someone misrepresents something I'll call them on it. When you see some of the stuff posted on here it's truly bizarre They seem to have a problem with facts and that's dangerous

There's also the habit of posting "facts" that are only partial quotes, or quotes taken out of context. That's been pretty fun. :

Well, I'm a big picture person so I only care if a statement blows a hole in an established fact. I don't sweat the small stuff and that's most of what you get around here. I've been called names big time here but that doesn't bother me and I've never complained to the mods. So, I'll just keep doing what I'm doing. The repubs are imploding so probably will get worse as they deal with it. Even top repubs have just about thrown in the towel http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/republicans-can-stop-obama-one-way-or-another/2012/03/02/gIQAjq6bmR_story.html

Interesting Op-Ed piece. I posted a few dozen pages ago that there don't seem to be many quality candidates on either side right now. I am planning to vote for Obama, and would most likely have anyway, but I truly bemoan the fact that there's a void of qualified people running this year. Without competition, no one really needs to "step up" their game, and complacency rules.

That op-ed is pretty stunning. Devastating to the repubs. I think Obama is still Obama and is a good candidate but the repubs have hit a brick wall and imo is because their brand is fatally flawed. Their ideas have been proven not to work so anyone who represents them is going to look like a poor candidate. They could have an exceptional person (such as Huntsman) but when he starts sprouting off about trickle down and cutting education and everything else that's important they will lose. Don't know what they can do..I'm just glad I'm not a repub.

Report: Obama's election sparked dramatic rise in militia groups in US http://www.thegrio.com/politics/officials-see-rise-in-militia-groups-across-us.php Any theories on what the motivation for this stunning rise might be? Hmmmm...

LOL - Your 30 second attention span will lead you to posting some offensively biased Daily KOS garbage as some 'authoritive' word to support your weak arguments...and besides, your very own party just took a sad song and made it 'badder'...LOL...way to handle the Sandra Fluke situation, meatheads from the left Even your very own vile man, Bill Maher, as well as that one white house aide had to take note of the hypocracy...and to watch Obama ignore questions about returning Bill Maher's money was like watching a little kid get mad and want to take his ball and go home - classic And speaking of 'big picture', if you want to at least pretend to be playing that game, try quantifying your 'ideas' with some semblence of rationales, instead of 'we will help the people out' - 'well, how will you do that' - 'by fixing things'...LOL You often finish a post by tauting 'blah blah blah' towards us over the the right...but I think I've realized you're not taunting...you're just parroting what you see in the mirror
