So, in a few hours, Germany vs. Netherlands. Could be an awesome game. Or a game with many red cards. The mood in both countries is again very hateful, like in the 80s and 90s, a bit like Poland vs. Russia yesterday. Well, as a German, nobody likes you and the other way around. It's difficult for a German to keep fingers crossed for another country, f.i. in the game France-Enland, we don't like either of them. I doubt that one other country has as many archrivals as Germany. We don't like England, France, Netherlands, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Argentina and so on. From the big football-nations, maybe only Brazil and Spain are okay.
wrong. my country 'scotland' has always had a soft spot for the germans...especially considering all the pain you have inflicted on the english team down the years
I was talking about the big football-nations. Nice to know that at least someone likes us. And Germany won against the Netherlands. Great game, could be better from Germany in the second half, but still good. The 1:2 was unnecessary, Germany should've made the 3:0 instead. But anyway, two games, two wins, today against Denmark.
Just as well Germany are not to bad at football because you're pish at fighting
Come over here and I show you how good I am at fighting.
My bomber is in the hanger being refurbished, poor excuse i know but its true
Who cares about bombers? I want a good old fist fight like real men!
you said on another thread you punch and run away, i hope you're a good runner
They call me the German Usain Bolt.

Pirlo is better than Xavi and Iniesta is more of a forward player anyway.
Pirlo and Xavi are similar at passing, maybe Pirlo is a little better at long passes. Xavi is better at dribbling. Xavi is better at finishing but Pirlo a little better in long shots and Xavi a bit better in defending.
Özil, Khedira and Schweinsteiger are better as all the above.

Pirlo is a better passer, long and short. You can't get the ball of Pirlo, just like Xavi. Pirlo is a better finisher.

Pirlo is one of the greats but not so great as Xavi and my neighbour (Iniesta)

Alice Goodwin? Another neighbour of mine, Juan Carlos Navarro, was choosen as the MVP in the last European Basketball Championship (Lituania 2011). I know him, he's a great guy, I don't know Iniesta, though. It will be quite shocking to be living in a town with the MVPs in Basketball and Football euro championships. (And the one and only Paul McCartney's song contest's MVP )

This may be an absurd for some but uses to be very acurate. Fifa09 video game lol It was released in 2008 and their rates on the players attributes are spot on. They even predict very well potential great players. As Bale or Hummels become one of the world's best defenders in 2012. (Still it doesn't predicts the one who could become but finally don't do it, like Bojan Krkic) Ratings for Pirlo and Xavi four years ago but still similar today, only they're slower. Player PIRLO XAVI Acceleration 58 79 Sprint Speed 66 78 Stamina 83 87 Strenght 70 63 Marking 57 53 Tackling 64 67 Ball Control 94 94 Dribbling 84 87 Crossing 91 87 Heading 58 63 Short Passing 97 95 Long passing 97 93 Finishing 64 76 Shot Power 80 74 Long Shots 88 85 Reactions 85 94 Composure 95 (as shown in that penalty, lol) 88 Free Kicks 92 86 Weak Foot skill 3 3 (3 out of 5, the rest of rates are out of 99) I kind of agree, Xavi a better dribbler (also because he's faster). Pirlo a little even-better at passing. Xavi better at finishing (the 3rd scorer this year at Barça), except for long shots and free kicks. And a better defender cause he's faster. When it comes to pure skill with the ball they're similar. Guardiola offered Pirlo a place in Barça 3 years ago but he refused cause he thought he would be a substitute.

I'm not sure about Özil in that case.

spain's and portugal's line up, it's in Spanish but you will see it anyway http://futbol.as.com/futbol/2012/06/27/eurocopa/1340816299_199320.html Portugal repeats line-up and Spain changes Fabregas for Negredo At least Portugal is gonna play with 3 forwards and there'll be some fun. bye

My Match Prediction Spain 3 Portugal 2 after extra time as an outside bet because Portugal are playing 3 up front. Spain 4 Portugal 1

Well I got close, I said 1-0... I didn't expect the 2-days-rest-thing matter so much but it did. Xavi was not Xavi, Silva was not Silva and my neighbour was not my neighbour. CR7 didn't have the ball 3 o4 times but 7 or 8, anyway not a shot on target of Portugal (the corner shot to target?). Besides being tired, the same old problem for Spain, why don't they use any fast forward?. At least the thing got better with Pedro and Navas as wings. I hope Spain play against Germany or Italy with some fast forward, but well, in the final it's us who will have the advantage of the extra day of rest so maybe Spain will win anyway. Epic ending. Messi and CR7 are competing for the Golden Ball. And Neuer and Ramos competing for the Biggest Balls. There should be a price, just like Fair Play... you know the story? This year semifinals of the Champions League Bayern vs Madrid, final penalties. Ramos shots the ball far away from the bar. Neuer tweets something "I knew how CR7 and Kaka shoot but not that Ramos shooted this way" Then Bayern vs Chelsea, penalty shootout. And Neuer has the balls of shooting a penalty, and he shoot in a technical way not a power shot. And then Ramos tweets something like "Hey champion, some humility would do you no wrong, you should learn to play finals" Then Neuer tweets "But I can shoot penalties" Then, yesterday, Ramos has the balls of shooting in Panenka-style after the miss he did on the Champions semifinals. Now it's Neuer turn. What would he do? shooting a penalty Panenka-style? And then Ramos a heel one?. Or Neuer facing a penalty backwards? head looking to the goal not to the player? or on its knees?
-
And unclesox and me we're gonna have an epic ending, now we are just 3 points way, he's leading. I want Germany for the final, so it will have a symbolic meaning of what's going on right now, the decisive moment for world's politics. Merkel possibly coming to her senses. I hope she does. 15-M vs Merkel.... All the stadium would support Spain, except for the Germans, I guess.

What an embarrassingly ridiculous sport, that it can't find a better way to decide the winner than penalties in a competition!! Surely they could just take off the goalies, or slowly make the goal bigger or something? Those matches are hard to watch, and I get to a point as the 90 minutes (and 120 mins) looms where I don't care who scores as long as someone does. But they don't... Tennis has a great scoring system, where there's always a winner and it's never over until the last point. Much nicer to watch, for me anyway.

The penalty shootout was created... in Spain. For a friendly summer tournament then applied to virtually everything. I've thought of other system. The less players on field, the easier to score goals. (there is more room to play). So let's say a match ends in draw. Minute 90 Each team must take out one player from the field. Minute 100, if draw continues, each team must take another player from the field So on... If they get to 7 vs 7 or so, then it's extremely easy to score a goal. That being said... yesterday's penalty shootout have become the most watched TV show ever on Spain. I think that as long as people watches it so much on TV, they will continue to happen. As football now is made for TV. And probably they will look for ways to increase penalty shootout. Like removing extra times.

i like the penalty shoot-outs, much better than the golden goal they introduced some year back.
