The Official Football/Soccer Thread: 2017-2018 Season

Spain plays North Korea on Wednesday and if they win then Bojan wouldn't be available this weekend. Even if they lost I couldn't see him playing after returning from a long flight. And he's is only 16 so I don't see him playing much in the Liga this season. Not starting, anyway. He'd likely come on as a sub if Barca have a comfortable lead. I would think Dos Santos would play ahead of Bojan. Both will probably play in the Copa del Rey. Alves is also out Tuesday against AEK Athens so that he won't be "Cup-tied" for the CL if he goes to another team.

I've read the reason because Ronaldinho could leave. I was on the Spanish Tax Income supporting people, and they explained to us what themselves call "The Beckham Law" . From 2003 (Beckham arrival) if someone that has worked outside Spain starts working for a Spanish business (like Real Madrid or Barça) he will only pay 25 % for the Income Tax. Instead of 43 % for milionaires. That makes easy for the Liga to sign players from outside Spain. For instance Real Madrid has to pay 7.5 milions to Beckham and he will pay 1.5 as Taxes so he will earn really 6 milion. If he wants to earn 6 milions really in Italy, Milan should pay him 11 and he will pay 5 as taxes. The law effect stops after 4 years. Beckham is not here. Ronie and others could do the same. It's not because they pay to them more in other club... it's because the taxes.

Sounds interesting. Do you have a link to the story, even if it's in spanish. It almost sounds like you're trying to justify Real's summer spending.

There's an entry for the "Beckham Law" in wikipedia. What I cannot find is a news story saying that this "law" expires after four years.

Well, I learned it for myself into the Tax Authorities offices, I don't know if there's a link somewhere, there should be something in Spanish. The Law doesn't expires. I mean that the foreigner will pay 25% only till his 4th year on Spain, at least according to present law (sooner to be changed always...) From wiki, okey, they are 5 years, not 4. The change of legislation allows an individual who has relocated from another country to Spain the choice of being taxed as a Spanish resident or as a non-Spanish resident. The choice applies in the year of arrival to Spain and continues for the following five years. By electing to be non-resident, one can limited their liabilities to Spanish taxation to Spanish income and assets only and not on a worldwide basis. Thus under Spanish Non-Resident Income Tax rules they may avoid tax on their worldwide income for a period of up to six tax years provided that certain conditions are met. Should such a choice be made, the expatriate will be subject to Spanish taxes on their Spanish source income and on their assets located or exercisable in Spanish territory, being subject to a flat 25% tax rate on his salary income instead to the progressive tax scale for resident individuals (ranging from 15% up to 45%) during the year of acquisition of the Spanish tax residency and the following 5 consecutive years. Yes, all the newcomers of Real Madrid come from not Spain Pepe, Metzelder, Heinze, Robben, Drenthe, Sneijder... except for Saviola, that I don't know if he has spent his 5 years in Spain anyway... Yes, the salary is cheaper from Real Madrid for that kind of players. Not the singing figure you know. Same from Henry, Abidal, Toure, can you see a pattern? I heard an expert saying that Spain has the lower income tax for high income virtually in the world (except "strange countries"), for those 5 years foreigners in Spain... and working for a Spanish business.

Way on the other hand, after getting worse and his 6th heart attack Puerta has officially died. An hour ago they said he was "very critical" instead of critical... almost vegetative I guess. Now it's out of the "possibilities of medical science", so he's dead. http://es.eurosport.yahoo.com/28082007/47/liga-fallece-antonio-puerta.html

I understand it now. So Beckham still had one more year to go before he could worry. But now that Ronaldinho has taken Spanish nationality, I would think he'd have nothing to worry about, no? In any case I don't see him leaving for Chelsea. His contract runs until 2010 and I think it was Txiki or Laporta who stated in June that they planned on meeting with him after the season (summer 200 about extending the deal. I'd rather they try to sell him in 2009. Saviola was signed by Barca in 2001, I think. Well, he came before Laporta was elected in '03. He was signed by Gaspart.

Yeah, but Beckham contract ended this summer if he did a new one in Spain, he would have to lead next year anyway... Ronaldinho is Spanish now and Brazilian too, you know. Let me detail a little more about the law... It's not about not Spanish people but people not being forced to pay tributes in Spain lately. Obviously that includes people that never been to Spain or have business here. But that includes too Spanish people working on... South America, for instance. They are a lot of high executives there. They are not paying to Spain while living there, so when they return here, the Beckham Law will be applied to them, so they would pay the famous 25%. And that's why some want to stay out. Because you need a number of years (I don't remember how much) of non-fiscal residence in Spain to take advantages of the Spanish Law, it's not about nationality, so Ronaldinho is not affected at all. http://www.eleconomista.es/economia/noticias/257200/01/70/Los-abogados-italianos-buscan-las-cosquillas-a-la-ley-Beckham.html Here's an article about the Calcio teams claiming a similar Law to their goverment. "Fiscal doping". And Saviola has played outside of Spain a lot since he came to Barcelona. Monaco?. Gaspart knew the Beatles by the way. He was the son of the Princesa Sofia hotel where the Beatles stayed in Barcelona. Now he's the owner of that hotel... He was kind of his guide here... John had some kind of problem with his trousers and asked Gaspart one of his. And he played with them live. Lennon returned the trousers to Gaspart, he kept them for some time... but... He throw them away recently... At least he could have sell them or so... you know Gaspart, the worst president ever. Princesa Sofia remains the most usual hotel for rock stars coming to Barcelona like The Stones or Paul himself, the Ritz was for Queen... and now there's the Ars Hotel that's likely to have some visits of that kind, like Woody Allen now.

Virtually all the Spanish football has been in Puerta funeral. All the Sevilla team and president, of course, including Alves. All the Betis (the other Sevilla city big team, the rival) and president. Real Madrid president, Raul, Guti, etc. Barcelona president and Puyol the captain. Secretary of State of Sports, President of Andalucia (Sevilla region), Luis Aragones (Spain Team Coach), etc. okey. For me it seems a doping thing. It's a thing being repeated a lot in young pro sport men. I think they are 40 the football players that have died by "sudden death" 1995-2007. Doping controls were born when the cyclist named Simpson died after a Tour de France race. The exams showed he used a lot of drugs like anfetamines, etc. Doping controls were supposed to protect health... but now it's seems that it's the oppossite. Because sport men use strange doping things because they are not detected now. And they're more dangerous that the ones detected because they are well-known and their use is familiar... A lot of Italian retired players have said their teams were totally doped in the 90s and they were never detected. As possibly are today, we don't have proof, of course, we can't acuse... but it seems the more that's supposed to be controlled, the worse. I personally think that athletes should be able to use anything they want. It's their life. We don't do doping controls in jobs. Maybe the worker next to you is doped... (a lot of cofee does a bit... for instance) and what?... it's his choice. it seems we're gonna see more deaths like that. Sign of times. Doping to compete. Die to compete, you know.

40 hours to close the Spanish market of football players. As Schuster says probably someone will be singed on 11.58 PM. In Spain we leave many things for the last moment. Riquelme is rumoured to Atletico. Ronaldinho to Chelsea. Alves to Chelsea, Barcelona, Madrid... My Fav 11 players right now ---------------------Iker Casillas----------------- Dani Alves---John Terry---Cannavaro---Puyol -----------------Frank Lampard------------------ ---Lionel Messi-------------------Ronaldinho----- ----------------------Kaka------------------------- --------Rooney-----------------Raul--------------

Not my favorite, but here are who I think are the best at the moment. Ask me tomorrow and I'll probably have a different list. --------------- Casillas --------------- Lahm -- Vidic -- Terry -- Zambrotta ---------------- Essien ---------------- ------------ Diego -- Kaka ----------- ---------------- Messi ----------------- ----- van Nistelrooy -- Drogba ----- Here's my "favorite" XI: ----------------- Valdes ----------------- Zambrotta -- Puyol -- Milito -- Abidal ------------------- Deco ----------------- --------------- Iniesta ------------------- ---- Messi ------------- Ronaldinho ---- ------------ Eto'o -- Henry -------------

Well, again... Sometimes I hate to be right (I say so much that that I'm starting to think a song with that title). I wrote it yesterday and it has happened. Another football player has died of sudden death. http://sports.yahoo.com/sow/news;_ylt=ArfBWotA1ybfgkCeRZOrX94mw7YF?slug=ap-israel-playerdies&prov=ap&type=lgns Zambian player, that played in the African Cup of Nations 2002, died collapsing while training for his club Hapoel Bersheva, second Israel division. I wrote it yesterday and the news have appeared today... Another silent minute in the next matches?

Everything "normal" in Champions League previous round, except Ajax is out. mmm... if I trained Barça I'll line a bit different, they need a real striker (or two), (like Drogba or Van Nistelrooy ), maybe it's Bojan, Giovanni, I don't know but it's not Etoo (injured for two months), Messi or Ronie. (What a penalty scored Diego yesterday! :lol -Valdes (other I would wish, but...) --- Zambrotta -- Puyol -- Milito -- Abidal -------------------Xavi----------------- ---------Iniesta---------Deco--------- --Messi -------Bojan?-----Ronaldinho- and Real Madrid lacks... the "football creation" (not so much with the new ones) of Barça but have the people to score when the other teams is defending close to the goalkeeper.

Now we are on XIs.... this is my XI when I play Fifa07 game against players all over the world online. I almost always play with Barça, because they have players to let me play the ball... sometimes, Real Madrid, Chelsea... The skills of the players are based in the end of the 2005-2006 season, not the last one (that is gonna be soon, Fifa0. That's why Iniesta is not playing with me, he was a little worse past year and I put Giuly, instead. ----------------Valdes---------------- Zambrotta-Thuram-Puyol-Silvynho -----------------Xavi----------------- ------Giuly-------------Deco-------- ------------Ronaldinho-------------- ---------Etoo-------Messi----------- I sometimes change positions between Messi and Ronie. On the second half almost always I change Silvynho for Gio, Edmilson for Zambrotta (and Thuram plays as "2") and Iniesta for Xavi. I'm planning to sit down Etoo and put Gudjohnsen... mmm... Team for Real Madrid: Casillas; Cicinho, Sergio Ramos or Diarra, Cannavaro, R. Carlos; Emerson; Beckham, Guti; Robinho; Van N., Raul
