It happened in Monterey! (50th anniversary)
Before Bonnaroo... Before Austin City Limits... Before Coachella... Warped Tour... Lollapalooza... Live Aid... Day On The Green... Glastonbury... Altamont... Woodstock... Hyde Park... Isle of Wight... Summerfest... ... there was Three Days of Understanding. Today marks the 50th anniversary of the start of Monterey Pop: The three-day festival of music that is considered by many to be the first major pop/rock cultural event and helped usher in the 'Summer of Love' of 1967. If there's one concert/festival (that didn't include any Beatles
) I wish I could go back in time and attend, it would be Monterey Pop (with Woodstock being a very close second). Eric Burdon & The Animals tribute song, Monterey".

RE: Members that you miss
Skray:
:
Hey Skray, I remember you from back in the day, when we both joined. I remember looking forward to your posts but can't remember why.
I think you made me laugh or think on a certain topic. I used to tell a co-worker about things you'd say. Long time ago. I rarely post these days but occasionally lurk. Good seeing your name again.

RE: The Official Football/Soccer Thread: 2017-2018 Season
Brushing off the cobwebs from this thread. Topic title updated. So, Mr. Oliver. You still around? What do you make of Real Madrid under Zizou? You must be smiling, I imagine. Bar?a under Lucho started well in 2015 but this past season was a train wreck. The midfield needs work with Iniesta fading. Valverde is alright but I was hoping for a surprise pick, like Oscar Garcia who's doing good things with RB Salzburg. One year away from the World Cup. Spain starting to look formidable again. And look out for Argentina with Sampaoli now leading them. Germany always show up at tournaments but the favorite for me must be Brazil with France a close second.

21st Century Paul:
well, I won our Fantasy for the Champions League this year. Unclesox quit. Is there gonna be a Fantasy thing for the Euro Cup?
Yes, I quit. They didn't begin the game until Maatchday 2. I didn't like that. I still submitted a squad but I never visited the website again so my lineup was the same from Matchday 2 to the final. I'm playing the Euro fantasy. If you have a team we can try creating a league. Hopefully our scores will carry into the league. I currently have 40 points after the Belgium-Italy match.

RE: The Official Football/Soccer Thread: 2017-2018 Season
Fantasy Football, UEFA Champions League The website wasn't ready for Matchday 1 so all scoring will begin with Matchday 2 which plays on Tuesday 29 September. I've created a league for us. You need to register and select your team before you can join the league. http://en.uclfantasy.uefa.com/championsleague/ Name of league: Macca forum PIN/code: 8024715 Newcomers are always welcome. There's usually only three of us playing (myself, Oliver and Daniel) but everyone is free to join. Very lame that they didn't have the game set up two weeks ago.

RE: Dream Beatles Reunion Setlists
I'll be the party pooper here. I'm not much into "dream" set lists so I won't offer one. Had John lived and they all agreed to reunite, here's what I would have liked to have seen happen. They gather in 1994 for the Anthology project and during the course of interviews they decide to release an album of new material. Quoting John from his 1980 Double Fantasy interviews, "diarrhea of rock" is flowing and they write enough songs to fill a double album. I'll say 30 album tracks total (same as the White Album). They also have enough material to release 3 singles - two songs per single, thus six songs total (John, Paul and George each receive an A side). As was their custom, these singles do not appear on the album so as not to "con the public" (George Martin quote). Album cover is an updated version of the Please Please Me / Get Back covers (or the 'Red' and 'Blue' albums if you prefer) taken at Manchester Square. No world tour
Instead, they have a single concert at the Royal Albert Hall where they only play their new material. No retro songs (group or solo), and the public is made aware of this well in advance. Ticket prices are beyond ridiculous because they're The Beatles and know they can command whatever they want and the seats will still be filled. The concert is made available to watch live in theaters and pay-per-view across the planet. Recorded viewings continue for the next month. The new album and subsequent concert video and is released in conjunction with the Anthology series which includes extra footage of the foursome playing a few of their 60s hits acoustically at Friar Park. They say "Thank you and Goodbye" and there's no more Beatles. Oh, and a decade earlier John and Paul had combined forces to purchase the Northern Songs catalog. And John agrees to Paul's request of having "McCartney-Lennon" credited on songs Paul had the majority of writing. Okay, I think I've gone too far now.

RE: The Official Football/Soccer Thread: 2017-2018 Season
As of 01:00 CET UEFA has still to put up the Champions League fantasy football game. And the first matches are 19 hours away.
We're cutting it too close for comfort. http://en.uclfantasy.uefa.com/
