I really think Germany can win, it has the kind of team Germany needs to play their way and win a trophy. Well, there are things in Fantasy Football that I was absolutely wrong, I missed the forwards that were going to play. Baros didn't play for Czech Rep and neither Klasnic for Croatia. I'm not even sure of who's gonna play for Spain... (They say both, Villa and Torres) after all the teams have all played one round it would be easier to know which XI the coaches will choose... Daniel seems to guess it almost perfectly... the players that are going to do more points... But I though Benzema didn't play much in France.... (then probably will be man of the match today... ) It seems I'm better guessing results than players...

: There are a few things that make you ashamed of being German! Then again...

Well, we didn't quite make it at the World Cup two years ago in our own country, so we try to make up for it by winning this time at our neighbours!

Tonight...The first real "Clash of the Titans" of this EURO2008 ...Holland versus Italy!...
-
I've just seen the end of France's game... quite boring : they didn't even pressure Romania's defence. Domenech applauded the 0-0. They wanted it that way, even having to play agaist Netherlands and Italy next. Spain is the oppossite, they always try to win any team and can't be happy with a 0-0, then one of those teams like France wins Spain at quarterfinals...
-
Cool! Italy plays like Austria!
-
Netherlands show! against Italy that was nothing but agression, especially Gattusso that even joked about it with the referee. A real match finally. Italy never had never been beaten this way in a Euro Cup, and I guess never since they created catenaccio. To know if the first, the most important Netherland goal is offside or not, we should look at the football rules, anyway it's goal... the smart striker goal. (Again I know, but if Casillas, Pepe, Ramos, Metzelder, Sneijder and Van Nistelrooy can surely play well in this tourney... well... I'm not gonna say it again... maybe tomorrow when Spain will face Russian defence. No-one is tougher than the Russians. Kissinger said "Countries play as they are"... then we have it bad to take Moscow... they rather injure all their own team if it's needed. And we, much fun and little results.

Hello, sorry for joining in so late ops: my predicitions for today's matches: Spain - Russia 1:1 Greece - Spain 1:1 for Wednesday: The Czech Rep. - Portugal - 1:2 Switzerland - Turkey - 1:0 good to see you again, guys

Spain's gonna do definitely "The attack of the short ones"... Villa (1.75), Xavi (1.70 m), Iniesta (1.70 m), Silva (1.70 m) and... Torres. I would be the tallest midfielder (1.73 m) There's still controversy about yesterday's Van Nistelrooy goal. He would not be in offside if we count Panucci, that was out of the fields lines due a clash with Buffon. And it would be in offside if we don't count Panucci, cause he's out of the field... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Offside_%28football%29 The offside rule as it is today by the International Board. "Additionally Article 11.4.1 of the referring code states "an opposing player cannot be offside when one of the last two defenders has left the field of play"(citation needed)" not clear.. "citation needed"... ok, here Fifa web...it's a pdf... http://www.fifa.com/mm/document/affederation/federation/lotg2006_e_1581.pdf there is not reference to players out of the field, I think that was and old law that was taken out by their "perversion", some defenders run out of the field when they notice he couldn't make the offside line. Anyway rules are not very followed by main Fifa's referees : , specially the yellow and red card rules. Yellow card should be shown (amongst other causes) "for being guilty of unsporting behaviour" And red car, for instance for "Serious foul play" or "violent conduct". "Decision 4 A tackle, with endangers the safety of a opponent, must be sanctioned as serious foul play" so, red card. The classic foul that could injury a player. A tackle on the knee or in the ankle... Gattuso should have receive 5 red cards yesterday, but hey... these are FIFA referees. That's why I wanted them to lose.

BTW, I've notice that this Euro Cup ball seems to be smaller than usual. Now that I'm into the rules... "the ball circunference should be between 27 inches (68cms) and 28 inches (70 cms)", so it's only in my imagination, I guess, cause there's not much room to play. BTW, Hiddink (Russia's present coach and South Korea's coach in the South Korea World Cup) is saying right now that referees stealed the game to Spain in the South Korea-Spain quarterfinal in that World Cup... it wasn't only our imagination.

i am using cliches from the commentators but the movement off the ball WAS stunning. It showed a clip from Anelka last night ( probably the laziest greediest footballer on the planet) France had a attack last night and he never moved a INCH....and it was comparing it with the movement tonight......good luck Spain
-
What was it with the Greeks and Swedes yesterday evening? They never moved an inch - that is, until that fantastic goal from Ibrahimovic! That moment really saved the game. Until then, it was worse than any catenaccio system ever played by Italian teams! They at least knew what they were doing - but my impression was that neither Greeks nor Swedes really had any plan on how to get the ball forward! They are all pros, though... :
-
Some pros are much worse that average people. (and I'm not talking bout referees...) Greece did the Termopilas defence or so ... even more than catenaccio... it would have worked with 300. Ibrahimovic is one of these players that should plays even if he can run and I laughed a lot about the 2nd goal, it reminded me of one I scored with the butt. You have said it all about Spain. Only that Russian was less defensive than expected, all the problems of Spain is when the other team is really defensive then there are a lot of troubles to score a goal... but with spaces it's easy with fast forwards and good passers (I still don't know who passed the ball so well to Torres from the defence in the first goal, that was the key). Iniesta showed he's the closest thing to Laudrup in the tournament, even for some seconds, he's not recovered of 2 days in the hospital though (that's why I didn't put him in my team, unclesox...). But Puyol is recovered after a season of recovering from an injury. He should play if he can't run anyway. Well, if Spain doesn't win, at least we have fun in the meantime. Spain show.

Okay I'm from Netherland and watch (at least my husband) the games. Monday there was a question on the tele here and I can't find the answer With this kind of championship all the players have to be born in the country they played for so why is it that the coach can be from an other country : Not that we have to complain about good coaches Marco van Basten with Netherland, Guus Hiddink for Rusland and Leo Beenhakker for Poland So if someone know this answer PLEASE LET ME KNOW
