I didn't watch a thing yesterday. But I think we're going to have an epic matchday today. Netherlands must win big, so no De Jong + Van Bommel, I guess. And Germany is not qualified, anything can happen.

So, in a few hours, Germany vs. Netherlands. Could be an awesome game. Or a game with many red cards.
The mood in both countries is again very hateful, like in the 80s and 90s, a bit like Poland vs. Russia yesterday. Well, as a German, nobody likes you and the other way around. It's difficult for a German to keep fingers crossed for another country, f.i. in the game France-Enland, we don't like either of them.
I doubt that one other country has as many archrivals as Germany. We don't like England, France, Netherlands, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Argentina and so on. From the big football-nations, maybe only Brazil and Spain are okay.
wrong. my country 'scotland' has always had a soft spot for the germans...especially considering all the pain you have inflicted on the english team down the years
I was talking about the big football-nations.
Nice to know that at least someone likes us.
And Germany won against the Netherlands. Great game, could be better from Germany in the second half, but still good. The 1:2 was unnecessary, Germany should've made the 3:0 instead. But anyway, two games, two wins, today against Denmark.
now thats cheeky!.....i will however let you off if your team inflicts more pain on the dreadful english...be careful though they have just beaten sweden, they think they are world beaters again

The BBC compiled a definitive list of all the possible group stage end permutations here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18454917 Makes it all clear - yes, right
Martin
im just hoping and praying that the english get the spanish assuming everyone makes it through...now that would be sweet

The Germans rode their luck last night, that was a stone wall penalty to Denmark.

who wants Greece to win? or is this a political thing?

The UEFA has announced that the grass is gonna be watered today for Spain vs Crotia "as the rules state". That's why I was shocked... The grass is watered in every international tournament... I don't know what happened in Italy vs Spain and other matches... they forgot the rules or so... Goodbye Netherlands, their playing long time ago was an inspiration for the way Spain plays now, but they have changed their ways.

Coming from Scotland we've had to put up with the SFA continuing to back the establishment club albeit they are now a newco, they cheated their way to domestic titles and cups for years. The politics in football these days are nothing short of a disgrace, everything is pointed towards the big countries qualifying wither it be in International or European football, look at the champions league, how can it be for champions when the big nations have 4 teams in the competition?? I like the way the Germans play, but they should be OUT!! wtf does that official behind the goal get paid for? As much as i want Spain to win the competition it wouldn't bother me if Greece won, they done it b4, btw Samaras was good the other night.

The "champions league" it's not a league and it's not made out of champions.

yes, what a bore, no Spain's show at all. It was intentional, it seems. When they attacked a bit, the coach stopped them asking them to "think". I think that's more risky than to play full attack just like against Ireland (though it wouldn't have been that easy). Croatia doesn't have a great counterattack. I'm not a Del Bosque fan, I still hope Javi Martinez gets in for Arbeloa. It was intentional... but also unintentional in the end... the players became so nervous that they did mistakes they never do. Spain shouldn't play the Italy way... but well... maybe it's was done to give the team a rest or so.

He said that he didn't feel like he was taking any risk, that Croatia only could have scored in that heading that Casillas saved. At least there was no fake, no "agreement" of ending 2-2. Italy via Buffon thanked that. If Spain would have "agreed" to end 2-2 that would have been zero risk... and Spain almost went out and possibly will face Italy in the final. Spain having principles. BTW, coming back to politics, half of the teams on quarterfinals are "PIGS"... Go "PIGS"
