How Much Money Do You Need
-
When you travel to a country with almost double your exchange rate, you need way to much money And you realize your country is not in great financial standing!

Yes...Love2Travel!...Rai Stones would be a little tricky to put in a parking meter.
They won't fit in my carry on luggage either!

Indeed. I think we are in this mess for a long time to come as well since the powers that be don't seem to concerned with fixing the issue.

Enough to buy records when bills and practical things (like food) are paid.

I'll take care of the expected things that I always do ..... The house, car, food etc ..... I could use some more for the things that happen - such as my dog's surgery Car repair needed and put off longer than it should be .... and not taking vacations to go somewhere (home vacations only ) ... and maybe a movie at the theater or sports or concert .... even with overtime .... there is a lot of catching up with the "extra happenings" I know it is asking too much ..... it is what it is Oh well .....

^^ I understand you The_Fool, that is all I wish for as well. I wish there was a currency for Happiness and Love. I would love buy them, but you can't.

Money to keep current with daily living expenses

In a way it could be fun to try to be rich. But I have the impression that you don't actually have fewer problems, one gets only other problems. Humanity is so s*****.

What kills me is when rich people spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on things that are really unnecessary. Like I read that Elton John spends over $200,000 a year on flowers for his various homes. :

I had pondered that quirk of Elton's before, and realized that he is spending his money back into the economy, and creating work and compensation for working people in doing this. Rich people who hoard their money and are not spending it back into the general economy is what's bothersome. We have to keep the money moving.

I remember hearing in the 90s that Elton John when he bought records he just took the whole top 40 list. He didn't bother to check out what he liked. And this was once a week, etc. I bet he is not the only rich celebrity who is hooked on shopping. I find it tedious to shop. I doubt that lots of money would change this. I've hated it since I was a kid. For me it's actually a woman thing. I envision Cher... glamorous Hollywood wifes.

That's true and I understand what you're saying. I just think that if I was that rich I'd spend my money in better, more practical ways. Just think what that $200,000 could do if instead he donated it to a charity like Red Nose Day? (and I'm sure Elton does give a lot to charity already!)

There were hundreds of working people who received portions of that $200,000...who also like to have money to donate to charity. You are not rich, yet I will wager that you have spent thousands upon thousands of dollars on Paul related items and ventures over the years. Is that practical? To each their own.

I could not become rich without exploiting people. Be ruthless. I don't think it would have been a deserved way to get rich. But with someone like McCartney, he's got talent, he's rich because many people happen to love his singing and dancing. In another time he might have been poor, like Mozart... it is with a little luck. He probably have people who work for him, who are not rich but it's not like he has to treat them like shit to become rich himself. It's all about the music he creates. Another thing, what makes McCartney rich for me, is his music.

Spend it! You don't want to be the richest man in the cemetery.

Would like to be rich enough to never have to worry about anything. I'm a saver & a bargain hunter.

I said if I was rich I'd be more practical than to spend $200,000 on flowers. I'm not rich and I justify my Beatles/Paul spending by the fact that I don't have other vices like drinking or smoking. Plus, I still have enough money to live quite comfortably. I would never go into debt over Paul, i.e. spend money I don't have.

Many people who are very rich aren't as happy as they lead people to believe. Sometimes it's the ones who don't have a lot of money that are the happiest.
-
I think how much money I need depends on where I'm looking from. I know that people respect you more if you have a lot of money. Buying and selling... it's what society is made of. The no-no people become yes men... But money can only buy what is made. Go shopping... I bought many records, I like records, I'm a collector, but I would also been able to create one.. like McCartney's music, he created a body of work. I would rather be poor and creative than rich on buying and selling someone else's stuff.

Enough to keep a roof over my head, food in my stomach, and pay the bills, but also enough where I can still travel home every Christmas to be with my loved ones!
