Doctor Who

Fans-on-the-run:
but only 15 minutes for the 'Ten Doc's' special??? .
That's an early leak rumour about a possible filler item for the BBC annual telethon appeal night for Children In Need. If it's really in production as rumoured it's there to attract Whovian fans to look in and donate. Those special short films are not to be taken too seriously. Martin

Well, what do you think of it so far Martin? I've not seen any of it myself. I'm taping them all and am going to treat myself to a Torchwood fest and watch all 5 eps back to back

After two episodes I'm looking forward to the rest! I saw an interview on BBC Breakfast with the Gwen and Yanto actors that this mini-series had been created to be watchable as a stand-alone TV series because transferring to BBC1 and this prime-time slot would bring a new audience possibly unfamiliar with the BBC2 series to date. One downside to that interview, they did tell that this five hour mini-series is all the Torchwood we're getting this year - it replaces the normal 13 week season It still has that recognisable Doctor Who/Torchwood humour running through it. Obviously as you - and the whole of the USA - have not seen it yet, it's inappropriate to post too much at the moment. I had a trip to the beach at the weekend and took along CDs of the Torchwood radio play podcasts as a special treat for the journey. They worked well in that medium - I know they had a special radio play to mark the inaugeration of the Large Hadron Collider project in Europe a few months ago. I'm glad they're still writing and releasing them as downloadable podcasts. Martin

Thanks for that I'm really looking forward to seeing them I wish there was going to be a full series though too I've not listened to the Torchwood radio play podcasts so I might have to give that a blast into me eardrums

Well hurry up the podcasts are only up until the 9th and 10th July: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/features/torchwood/download/ Play 1 is gone already Capture them now - they are simple mp3 files so once downloaded they are keepers. Martin

Oh thanks Martin! I wish I'd have read this thread properly and I might have seen it in time ops:

In the midst of all this the BBC launches press releases for the Autumn season with trailers for the next Doctor Who special: http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/s4/misc/media/the-waters-of-mars-trailer Doctor Who ? The Waters Of Mars David Tennant returns as The Doctor in The Waters Of Mars, the second of four Doctor Who specials being screened on BBC One this year. He is joined by his cleverest and most strong-minded companion yet, Adelaide, played by acclaimed British actress Lindsay Duncan. Adelaide is head of the Mars Base and doesn't take kindly to an uninvited appearance by The Doctor. Peter O'Brien, star of Neighbours, Flying Doctors and Casualty, also guest stars as Ed, Adelaide's second in command. The Waters Of Mars is written by Russell T Davies and Phil Ford and is directed by Graeme Harper. TH BBC Productions You can also see a "carousel" of clips of upcoming programmes on this page here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pressreleases/stories/2009/07_july/09/bbcone.shtml And you can stop the carousel at another extended clip from the new Doctor Who story. While there have a first glimpse in detail at this Autumns new programming. Martin

Torchwood - WOW.... Impossible to post anything that would not spoil the viewing experience for the US viewers due to see this starting in 9 days time. Just one note though. This mini-series was broadcast immediately upon the 21.00 "watershed" - the nominal time here in the UK when parents should pay a bit more attention to the programmes suitabilty for their children. It does embrace concepts that might be challenging for the younger viewer (no bad language or sex). Some images are a bit disconcerting. As an adult, I'm still mulling over the implications..... I'm just half way through watching it all....I've got Thurs and Fridays eps to watch. So far it's a definite

i hardly ever watch tv......but i like this

Moggy Mornin' Mr Mog.... I Like It!.......Billie, hubba! She's delicious.....my son's bedroom wall has posters of her everywhere......I put them up..... You're right, TV is major soiled pants! I watch the odd programme on the iplayer but that's it. I watched that British Rivers thing with Griff Rhys Jones last night.....sadly, boring! Prefered 'Restoration'. Then watched 'Who Do You Think You Are' with Kate Humble.....she starts by saying she's worried in case she discovers she's got amazing ancestors that she'll find it hard to live up to. Talk about putting the mockers on it.... : ......you know what happens next. She discovers three incredible men within her close family tree who have done unbelievable things. A playboy acrobatic flyer/test pilot who worked on the dangerous job of testing the 'Tempest' plane (fastest in the world at the time) which shot down over 630 V2 rockets attacking London towards the end of the war saving thousands of lives and the last one was the guy who drew the maps for the men doing The Great Escape.... I was almost crying for the second man, a great grandfather I think. He was a mine manager at a pit in the north east who lost 204 men in a terrible accident and after trying to get down to them and almost dying in the process, stood for days at the top of the pit refusing to leave, unable to save his 'canny' men and boys trapped below. He never recovered and left his job shortly afterwards after being commended for his bravery and sense of duty and loss by the investigators in the inquiry. So sad. Can't wait for Doctor Who to come back......seems it may be a little more sinister this time.

Time to get animated over Doctor Who http://www.radiotimes.com/blogs/712-doctor-who-first-pic-of-new-animated-doctor-who/ Cartoon spin off of Doctor Who first to appear in short episodes on the BBC red button interactive service and on-line via the BBC Doctor Who web-site, it will eventually be screened on the BBC CBBC channel in the Autumn. The cartoon already has dedicated content on the Doctor Who web-site here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/doctorwho/dreamlandanimation/ Voicing the female assistant for this story will be Georgina Moffat the actress who played The Doctor's Daughter. I'm particularly pleased by this as it demonstrates that she is still in favour with the BBC Doctor Who team as I'd personally like to see her character return in one form or another - cerrtainly the end of that story had the possibility left open. They've done a cartoon Doctor Who before but that was much shorter, a 45 minute episode has more potential. Martin

I know of a member or two here that will think that a Doctor Who two-parter with both David and John head to head again will be "having one's cake and eating it" Martin
