What, no "Vertigo"?

This made me laugh, I experienced the same reaction. Your storm from yesterday is now here. I am hoping my power holds out through the fierce winds. LOVE Bell, Book and Candle and very much looking forward to Kim's interview with Robert Osborne. I will not be happy if I miss this interview.

Wishing you the best. My power went out in December and it was not fun. I was thinking of BB&C just yesterday during the day of dog movies. I was trying to come up with a list of cat movies and that was one of the first that occured to me. What else could we have? That Darned Cat The 3 Lives of Thomasina The Incredible Journey (need some that aren't Disney) Big cats: Born Free, The Lion King (Disney again) Various Val Lewton films, but cats don't really feature in them that much. I guess cats aren't as show biz oriented as dogs.

Rhubarb......LOVED this film and book as a young child. A cat, baseball and Ray Milland, it did not get much better than that! As a lover of cats and baseball, my grandmother had given me a first edition of this book, a green hardback with etched baseball players at the bottom of the cover. The dustcover was cute with Rhubarb sitting tall, overlooking baseball players. One day, I brought the book to school and left it on my desk during recess. When I returned, the book was gone. Would LOVE to have a first edition of this book and would LOVE to see this film again, have not seen it in ages. Back to Disney......The Aristocats

Rhubarb might be coming up soon! I have seen it on TCM before at the start of baseball season.

^ Thanks for the tip, Dave! If you happen to see this film scheduled and have the time, please post a heads-up here!

LOVE Bell, Book and Candle and very much looking forward to Kim's interview with Robert Osborne.
Brilliant, heartfelt interview, LOVED every minute! One could easily see that Kim was ready to open up about her Hollywood experience, excellent timing! The nice thing was that Osborne did not have to pull information from Kim, she was ready to share and he was a pillar of strength for her. It's not often that we get a glimpse into one's soul, but this interview was definitely one of those rare exceptions...absolutely BEAUTIFUL!

Tonight... Star of the Month, Greer Garson Mrs. Miniver (8:00 PM EDT) Garson picked up an Oscar for her brilliant performance in this poignantly moving film. A must see, classic film Essential. Random Harvest (10:30 PM EDT) LOVE this film! Be sure to have a box of tissues handy whilst watching this sentimental, romantic film that pulls at the heartstrings, it is a tearjerker!

My favorite thing about Jezebel is that they make a big deal about her wearing a red dress and it was shot in black and white. Poor Bette was always being dissed. At least she got an Oscar.

The true crime in this film! I have always likened this moment to the GWTW scene in which Scarlett appears at Ashley's birthday party in her stunningly beautiful, garnet red gown. I wonder, if shot in black and white, would the impact of Scarlett's shocking audacity and shameless beauty be the same? We were shown the power of Scarlett's red gown and we should have been shown the power of Julie's red gown. Favorite moment in Jezebel...Julie, in her gorgeous white gown, kneeling before Preston, "humbly asking for his forgiveness," only to find that he has married during their separation. What I LOVE most about Bette's performance is that she continuously speaks with her eyes, more so in this film than in any other. Bette's eyes make us believe that she is Julie, she allows us to see into Julie's soul, at times, almost eliminating the need for dialogue...a brilliant performance!

Davis probably would have been a credible Scarlet and she might have screen tested for the part (almost every starlet did). But Leigh was probably the best choice, as we identify her so strongly with the role (but she didn't have "Bette Davis eyes").

There's something special about the colour in Gone With The Wind. For instance, the landscape behind the kiss of Rhett and Scarlett is kind of like a painting. I think there are "red clouds" and things like that. Or maybe it's just one of very few movies from the 1930s that was filmed in colour. Then there's Max Steiner musical theme who still stands as one of the best (maybe the best) main theme in movies history. it doesn't need a link, but, well...

They just had a short on Greer Garson. That was This Apollo film looks like it's going to be great!

At 32 minutes there's a reference to The Beatles. Something about that The Beatles had announced they're break-up....they had amassed half a billion dollars in wealth...but, that rumors of them starting their own space program...were false!

From around 27 to 39 minutes + is very cool! This is just good period.

Agree, it's lovely! I have always admired Greer Garson and enjoyed her performances, but after watching so much of her work this month, I think I may have to move her into my favorites.

I was actually returning to this thread to post the same. Apollo 13
The Beatles have announced they will no longer perform as a group. The quartet is reported to have made in excess of a half billion dollars during their short musical career. However, rumors that they will use this money to start their own space program are false.

Agree, I thought it was great! I had never seen this documentary, very happy that I took the time to do so. Glad you enjoyed it, Steve!
