Check out TCM's new 31 Days of Oscar promo. It segues from the Birds fleeing schoolkids to the Beatles in AHDN.

Yes. I was away for the last few minutes tending to snow removal. The forecast is for up to 10". It's a good day to stay inside and watch TCM (or football).

Sorry for straying off topic, but I just checked my Wisconsin birds FB group and was reading a post about a rare gull sighting. I had never heard of the poster's town before (which is unusual for me) so I clicked on the link for it and had to laugh because it is quintessential Wisconsin:
Sobieski, Wisconsin is an unincorporated census-designated place in Oconto County in northeastern Wisconsin, United States. It is located within the town of Little Suamico. As of the 2010 census, its population is 259. Sobieski is home to six taverns, a daycare center, a landfill and a Catholic church.

It doesn't look like many cars are going to be moving in motion any time soon! TCM and Football does sound pretty good all day!

We finally caught the 31 Days of Oscar promo last Tuesday (27th), LOVE the segue from The Birds to The Beatles. Oddly, since our first view, The Beatles have been cut from every promo we have seen since. Bit of a bummer as naturally we thought that particular segue was the best part of the promo.

That's a shame. I saw something on there earlier this week which had AHDN clip in it. I think it was the short subject which shows quick bits of popular movies chronologically. I hope everyone has a happy new year!

Here is the schedule: http://31days.tcm.com/schedule.pdf AHDN is Feb. 11. They are being shown alphabetically. I would prefer chronological.

^ Thanks so much for posting the 31 Days of Oscar schedule, looking forward to watching! Happy New Year, (((Dave)))!!!

Tonight was watching The Angel & Badman ... a very old one with John Wayne.

Well, the promo video can now be found in this tweet:

I just watched Chaplin's The Great Dictator. I think Chinese TV played it for the new American president, but it's a great movie either way. Chaplin made almost 100 silent movies and resisted sound for a decade after it came out. When he finally spoke, he delivered what's still considered one of the greatest movie speeches of all time. And that was the end of the Tramp.
This video has some added music from a more modern movie, which I think is stupid, but I couldn't find one without it. -

I have never been a great fan of John Wayne (I know, classic film sacrilege), but absolutely LOVE him in what I consider to be his finest film, The Quiet Man.
