Why didn't anyone warn us that we were passing through debris of Halley's Comet this weekend???

Mercury's transit today! http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap160508.html
You beat me to it again!!! Well I just got home from work to find my neighbors great photo! End of the Transit of Mercury across the face of the Sun today, 09 May 2016. A rare event astronomically, last transit was in 2006. From the NJ Shore. http://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t620/love2travel6/Beautiful%20World/image.jpg1_zps5zzixgqb.jpg He takes some amazing photos with his telescope, has met a number of astronauts and is very brilliant! The moon, by the way, was playing tricks with my vision, on the way home from work. Hope he gets a good photo of that too!

The sound of a black hole! In case you were wondering! http://www.theatlantic.com/video/index/484130/what-do-black-holes-sound-like/ Did you ever wonder how big those comets are next to...say a major city? There's a great photo. Don't know if this is the one we recently landed on, only to find it wasn't really a black snowball... That theory ended quickly, when the crampons didn't land right on the rock, and it took a bit of a tumble... Turns out the comet trail is not melting snowball!! http://www.collective-evolution.com/2015/10/22/26-pictures-will-make-you-re-evaluate-your-entire-existence/

I can imagine that as overwhelming solid and compact that they are, and the speed they are moving when they first touch each other, that they would make a chirping sound like steel wheels on steel rails. I can only suppose that it would actually be so loud that our ear drums couldn't handle it, although. (To say the least) There was a special on that comet landing attempt a while ago and how they had 3 optional places to land, but it wound up landing not well and also had trouble getting light on it's solar panels. Interesting links!!!

^ That is amazing! I've never seen that one before! It's a beaut! I really like the Carina Nebula and have been thinking of painting it, and coincidentally it just came up on APOD a couple of days ago... http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap160527.html However I also really like this one of the nebula in Orion, with the Horsehead Nebula inside it! http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap160413.html
