Mars may have very well had an atmosphere at one time and possibly advanced life. But, it looks as though the asteroid that created the 1,400 mile wide Hellas Basin (3rd largest impact crater in the solar system) and sent a stream of energy through Mars and raised up Olympus Mons (largest volcano in the solar system), appears to have put an end to that. Yet, another reason why the human race needs to pull together as... ONE TEAM!!! TEAM EARTH!!!...AMEN!!!

Living on Europa some day...or maybe on earth, underwater, as this projected Science museum to be built is set up. Might be better than a biodome. From what I was reading about Mars, that deep indentation shows signs of being a lake in the past, with shoreline markings....There are also surface features indicative of glaciers. It's quite fascinating, as well as something I had seen about solar winds removing Mars atmosphere, in the past. Mars doesn't have an iron core like we do and somehow affects the magnetic field....that destabilized it's axis, causing it to swing wildly over time. Further destabilizing the old atmosphere. Maybe the Martians are living underground!
There are some really interesting surface features, which you've probably seen too...including pyramid like features and other pretty far out, wild imagination items... Hmmmm

http://www.space.com/16999-mars-red-planet.html "The simple explanation for the Red Planet's color is that its regolith, or surface material, contains lots of iron oxide -- the same compound that gives blood and rust their hue. But why does Mars have so much iron, why is that iron "oxidized," and why does iron oxide look red?" They go on to say that Mars has iron like other planets, but it is closer to the surface. I am inclined to believe that an iron meteor created The Hellas Basin and coated Mars in iron oxide dust.

Triplets Love Paul:
Did anyone check out Venus and the moon this evening? About thirty minutes after sunset, I walked outside to have a look at the alluring indigo night sky. There they were, a heavenly sight to behold, Venus shimmering like a brilliant diamond just below a luminous waxing crescent moon - stunningly beautiful!!! Sooooo inspiring!!!

At a NASA press conference on Wednesday afternoon, the space agency announced that astronomers have discovered an amazing seven Earth-like planets orbiting a nearby star. The bountiful find constitutes the highest number of such worlds to be seen circling the same celestial center aside from our own solar system, of course. All of the planets were described as being temperate and, thus, potentially possessing water. Additionally, three of the seven worlds appear to sit in the vaunted 'Goldilocks zone' where it is believed that conditions are ideal for life to exist. The central star in question, dubbed 'Trappist-1,' sits 40 light years away from the Earth which is an incredible distance but one that may someday be surmountable as space travel technology advances. For now, though, astronomers hope to examine the planets' atmosphere in the hopes of finding indications of some kind of life on those worlds. At Wednesday's press conference, one of the astronomers on the research team marveled that "we've made a crucial step towards finding if there is life out there." Considering the vast array of exoplanets discovered so far and the growing number of worlds which have been found to be possible sources for life in the universe, it would appear that, indeed, the search is picking up tremendous steam. That said, as our observational skills improve at a rate far faster than our ability to explore space, humans may someday find ourselves knowing that we are not alone but incapable of taking the proverbial next step of making contact. Looking around the world today, some might say that's for the best. Source: CNNAnnounced today!... 7 new earth sized planets discovered around a star that is 40 light years away. 3 of them are in the zone where liquid water is possible. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Yay!!! Great news!!! Have thought of having myself cryogenically frozen...maybe I can request to be unfrozen with Walt!!! We can visit Trappist-1 to make the New Disneyland!
Catch phrase : It's out of this world!!!
Update: Went to the market tonight and the checkout girl asked me if I watch Fox News. When I asked her why, she explained to me that they had said today...that three worlds with life, just popped and are now circling the Earth. I tried to tell her that the three planets she was talking about, were in fact, just discovered orbiting another nearby star, they were not orbiting Earth. Oh no she explained, Fox News always tells the truth, these planets are orbiting Earth right now and they have life on them! I tried to go into more detail, yet she could not be swayed.
Well then, I can now see the logic of watching Fox News and the logic for voting for trump. It crystallized clearly...

Can't wait for summer and hopefully visiting a place where the stars are visible. The LED lights are really affecting star visibility... Where night sky is protected from light pollution. https://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap170314.html

That's absolutely beautiful... Have always wanted to see bioluminescence. Always thought it was green... Never heard of a hoodoo before? Always beautiful to see the stars over great scenery. https://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap170328.html Reminds me of my days living in Yuma, the stars went on forever...

Hoodoo? Like in "Hoodoo" ya love?
Did you see the recent APOD with the million stars moving over a million years? That is very cool!

Yes, that other one was the one I almost posted lol It was really cool and I was pretty sure you would dig that one. However the geology and the hoodoo won out...
Going to quiz my geology buddies about the hoodoo...

Don't give the answer away!
A hoodoo (also called a tent rock, fairy chimney or earth pyramid) is a tall, thin spire of rock that protrudes from the bottom of an arid drainage basin or badland. Hoodoos, which may range from 1.5 to 45 metres (4.9 to 147.6 ft), typically consist of relatively soft rock topped by harder, less easily eroded stone that protects each column from the elements. They generally form within sedimentary rock and volcanic rock formations.

Someone's been doing their homework
I don't think hoodoo's were so named when I was in school, going to spring it on a few of the guys who might know... Bryce Canyon really has the hoodoo vibe going and Garden of the Gods has quite a few as well... Years ago, drove through an area between Colorado and Arizona, where there were unusual hoodoo's around every corner... I took a number of photos... racking my brain now to think of where that was... Back on thread topic... Cosmic Space Hoodoo's

John Fogarty is still looking for his hoodoo on the bayou...
