If my computer was a stand alone ..... I might think more of upgrading just to play around and see what 10 has to offer .... I have an older (by today's quick turn around of products) printer and scanner .... when I upgraded to Windows 7 .... it was tough to find and set up the drivers that would work and patches needed etc..... Some things looked like they made it without a glitch ...... when I went to use things there was compatibility issue or it just gave me the error box and a message of some kind saying it could not be done or found .... I don't feel like buying things to match the new Windows and do not feel like upgrading a few of the software things that I like as they are now and have tried some of the new upgraded software and did not like some of the new bells and whistles. As I said before .... I know how to do this stuff .... I guess I am not in the mood to mess around with it now and not in the mood for some frustrations at this time. (Not that it gets better .... but maybe the frame of mind and mood would be able to deal with it at that time). ((Or I may do this when I know a few good support people and friends who are more talented with this type of stuff than I and work with it more than I can anticipate and dig out of it quicker and better than I .... I might figure some stuff out but it may take more of my time and with their experience that can be done with less time)).

Well, I ordered a new laptop & will be picking it up tomorrow. : Wish me luck in getting used to MS10. I guess I'll try to play around with it in my spare time & still use this one with MS7.

If it's installed, you will catch on quickly ... I've been using a Win.10 system for about 6 months

Do you like it? Did you transfer stuff over to the new? Did you upgrade or get a new pc? Mine will be preinstalled. They are doing updates on it as we speak.

I upgraded from Win.8.1 It was done by a local computer repair place ... it should work just fine. It's a much more stable system ... maybe better than a Mac

I removed update KB3035583, I haven't had any Windows upgrade messages ever since!!! To make sure, go to C:\Windows\System32\GWX and make sure that the GWX.exe is gone. Besides System 32, also check SysWOW64 and make sure that GWX.exe is gone from that folder. You also have to go to Windows update, click change settings, under important updates, click the "Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them" box. Also under Recommended updates, check the "Give me recommended updates the same way I receive important updates" box. Doing this, it will keep Windows update from re-installing KB3035583 again!!! Good luck.

The last straw was a cartoon virus. My screen showed a guy in the basement, looking at his computer. All of the sudden he looked alarmed and a cloud came out of his computer and filled the screen. When the cloud cleared, the guy was kneeling on the floor, with his hands over his head. He was shivering and peeking out from under his desk... That was a horrible virus! It corrupted the root kit. I went out and bought the Mac.

I'm thinking about buying a Mac myself after New Years seeing that regular PC's are faulty.

Do Macs have hard drives? DVD drives? There are pros & cons to everything I guess. I just picked up my new pc with a 1 TB hard drive! WooHoo! Can fit a bunch of music & video on it! But I am not looking forward to trying out win 10 yet. Matter of fact, I need to figure out how to get to my password for my router. A geek guy set this up years ago & now I don't know where to start. Books...I guess.

I'm no expert on Macs seeing that I do not own one but I do know that Macs do have hard drives but are used a little differently from PC's. I'll have to do some research on this, I can ask a friend since he owns one.

Trust yourself, what you already know will be good enough to get started ... Do you have a touch screen? I don't _ windows 10 with a touch screen is like a smart phone. Relax, experiment & enjoy yourself ... I believe you can by-pass putting in some passwords, except for one that you use when you boot up.

Yes, it's a touch screen (but I don't have a smart phone so...) & it's a 2 in 1...so it's like a tablet too. I am watching some videos on win10 & will try to be a tad informed before I get too involved in it.. haha My older computers are win7...never dealt with 8. But I am in no hurry so I have time to goof around with it.
