Do Macs have hard drives? DVD drives? There are pros & cons to everything I guess. I just picked up my new pc with a 1 TB hard drive! WooHoo! Can fit a bunch of music & video on it! But I am not looking forward to trying out win 10 yet. Matter of fact, I need to figure out how to get to my password for my router. A geek guy set this up years ago & now I don't know where to start. Books...I guess.
Trust yourself, what you already know will be good enough to get started ... Do you have a touch screen? I don't _ windows 10 with a touch screen is like a smart phone. Relax, experiment & enjoy yourself ... I believe you can by-pass putting in some passwords, except for one that you use when you boot up.
Yes, it's a touch screen (but I don't have a smart phone so...) & it's a 2 in 1...so it's like a tablet too. I am watching some videos on win10 & will try to be a tad informed before I get too involved in it.. haha My older computers are win7...never dealt with 8. But I am in no hurry so I have time to goof around with it.
I prefer Windows 7 myself!!! I've never had any problems with Windows 7 (Knock on wood!)!

You're never going to find a new computer with Windows 7!!! Those days are gone. A friend of mine bought a new hard drive and installed Windows 7 Professional, he told me it works fine!!!
-
I wouldn't worry too much about it for most of you. At one time Windows 7 or 8 was New to you and now you are likely doing Fine with it. I would be curious to explore on it and figure what I can on my own. I looked into the printer and scanner. Basically you take a chance that a driver Will work when removed and added Again- no guarantee. Get third party Software with no guarantee - Then they tell you to just buy new stuff. HP for example split into two divisions. It can be tough to get support. They also Want to sell you new stuff. This is part of my not making a move. Years ago I used to try unproven Beta Software and give feedback. Now I just keep using what I have And I can keep using my printer and scanner.

That's the way it should be, you need to find out on your own. I definitely found out on my own, you need to get the feel of your own computer and explore its needs and concerns. I feel your concerns, it gets very frustrating doesn't it?
-
I'll worry about it when I have to get a new pc & right now, that's a long way off.

I already bought my pc with win 10. I think a new machine might as well go forward with win 10. I have a working laptop with win 7...so I have all my bases covered. (except for win 8...never had that)

I have been having a hard time getting used to it. I have a DVD player yet no software. I click on a jpg & there is no software to view it. WTH? I suppose with time I will get what I need on this but I think I'll go back to my other one for awhile.
