On multiple occasions over the course of the last year, I had declined the free Windows 10 upgrade. Within the last month, all three of my children have informed me that their laptops had been upgraded without user consent. I indicated that they must have somehow inadvertently allowed permission for the upgrade. I have not been able to spend much time online over the last week. To my surprise, during brief sessions, I had twice received pop-up notifications that my Windows 10 upgrade download would begin within seconds. Both times I was able to prevent the potential download. This past Saturday morning, I briefly checked my emails and then left to run an errand. Upon my return, I found that the Windows 10 upgrade had been downloaded/installed without my permission. My children were correct, this upgrade was being installed without user consent. I did not know such was possible! ops: Thus far, I am experiencing no issues, but not happy that the installation was performed without my consent. Hope the transition goes well for everyone! : : :
Yes, Microsoft is getting a ton of backlash (as they should) on this auto install. We've actually been telling our clients not to install or how to reverse the install since Windows 10 isn't very good.
You may be hearing from me on how to reverse the installation! ops: : : :
just let me know!

WOW! It doesn't surprise me that Windows 10 has caused so much problems! I don't like Windows 10 myself, that's why I went back to Windows 7! I also don't the fact that Microsoft has forced Windows 10 down our throats. One way to keep Microsoft from automatically installing Windows 10 in your computer is to remove Update KB3035583 from Windows Update. I haven't had any problems with Microsoft trying to install Windows 10 in my computer ever since.

Reminding me of why I finally went the way of Apple... Good luck ! That would flip me out, with the nerve of the computer deciding what to install on itself... like the rise of the robots...

I don't like the computer loading something that I do not give the okay to .... I didn't even like the updates it would install at a time that I needed to do some computer work ..... it would override what I wanted to do and I could not use it until it did the required update .... that being said .... in a nutshell My previous company gave me an option for about $10 to have windows 7 and office (An extra license) .... Since I had to leave due to downsizing .... they said I could keep using windows and office as long as it worked for me .... I did not want any surprises of it going away without me knowing. Then I got hit online with some stuff that I may or may not have removed .... an pain in the butt to remove lots of the problems .... So ..... I wanted to reinstall a "Clean" version of Windows again ... Since I chose to make a change - I went with the Windows 10 ... had to get a new office program etc ..... I had good help in saving stuff that I may have done okay or not .... but would have taken some time to figure out .... the person knew their stuff and made - saving my stuff smoother and less frustration for me. If I was still working at the same place - I would have stuck with the same Windows 7. Windows 10 will give me something new to explore ..... although the obvious things are not obvious to me at this time. And my printer does work (It was said that some things don't work with the changes - or you have to find a driver with a third party) I can't speak from experience .. I heard that if Windows 10 loads without you wanting it ... if you catch it in a short time you can do a "Recover to an earlier time" it will go back to when your computer last worked as you wanted it to. I don't know how long that lasts. And if you get there - you would have to disable the download or remove it so it does not do it automatically. The thing I do like is my computer is smoother ... although it would be with a fresh copy of Windows 7 too.

I get the feeling that more Windows 10 horror stories are about to unfold!

I was slightly freaked out by the event. ops:

With three kids in 11th grade, needless to write, we are constantly printing. I knew the printer continued to print from the other three laptops which had already received the Windows 10 upgrade, but it was the first thing I checked after my laptop received the upgrade - thankfully, no issues there. One issue I have found thus far is that my "saved" pictures (those saved from email, etc.) are not with my other pictures (downloaded from phone, camera, etc.). I can get to my "saved" pictures by opening the folder via the download link, but have not figured out how to move the folder in with my other picture folders - strange! I am going to need a little bit of time to figure out that one! ops: Also, every time I fire up the laptop, I receive a message indicating that Dell Stage requires Windows 7 to run to which I click "okay." When time permits, I will have to uninstall. I remain apprehensive about what else I may find that has been rendered inoperable. ops:

Things are definitely running smoother on this end as well.

I'm going to stay with Windows 7 as long as I can. I am researching this month as well as next month for any changes in Windows 10 or if they (Microsoft) fixed the Windows Update problem. Microsoft also needs to fix the Windows 10 back door that hackers find in order to gain access to all computer owners personal information. If Microsoft fixes both of those problems, maybe I'll try Windows 10 again. Maybe!

How's it going fellow Beatles fanatics? Is everyone having a great weekend? I apologize for posting this comment a little late. Here is my conclusion, I hate Windows 10 and I didn't even bother installing it for free. I've been hearing too many horror stories to even bother giving Windows 10 a chance. I'd like to hear from all of you, my fellow Beatles fanatics, if you installed Windows 10 in your computer, what is your opinion of it?

I did not install it on my two Windows 7 computers. Update KB3035583 from Windows Update kept trying to put itself back on my computer, but I hid it several times.
-
I didn't put it on my win 7 laptops either. It came on a new laptop that I haven't been using lately. I have a friend that upgraded & now her older programs won't work. But that is always a problem when you start upgrading one thing & not the other.

I removed that update and hid it too. I never had any problems with that update again.

I have been told the same thing over and over again just like you were told. I was told that if you want Windows 10, buy a new PC with Windows 10 already installed.

I never installed it because I heard so many horror stories. I've had enough trouble getting used to Windows 8!

I have heard from so many people of how they regretted installing Windows 10 and went back to Windows 7 and 8.1. Windows 10 is the biggest problem of all operating systems, Microsoft had no business releasing it.

I paid extra to buy a laptop with Windows 7 on it. I had to watch for that download Update KB3035583. It appeared periodically from the time I first hid it. Was glad I watched for it so I didn't wake up and find Windows 10 on my computer. When my two Windows 7 computers are dead, I will buy either a Windows 10 or go all out and finally get a Mac. My sister couldn't figure out why her printer wouldn't work after she upgraded to 10. Her son found the correct drivers and then it worked. She has had other issues also.

As many of my friends have said quote for quote: "Windows 10 is the devil's operating system from hell!"

Good God ! Operating systems (like Windows 10) are our friends. The same devils that bring it to you are the ones that brought you the earlier, less advanced versions you seem to prefer. : I have it installed on ALL my systems and I never had to buy it because for almost a year, Microsoft did the unprecedented and offered free upgrades to anyone already running licensed previous OS's. I am a Windows "insider" and have chosen to receive aggressive "pre-release" updates, which Microsoft warns may cause certain problems...but I see problems as newborn solutions. Each update they release for Windows 10 is a complete redo of the entire operating system, not just bug fixes and the like. New feature sets are included often, and I just got an email about the upcoming Fall "Creators Update". I LOVE Windows 10. I really do. Don't be afraid...walk into the light...
