Vaunted Red Sox are now 0-6. :
Kinda sucks despite their revamped line up - However, I knew their starting pitching wasn't as advertised
And their hitting isn't any better. I made the mistake of picking Youkilis in MLB's Beat the Streak. Goodbye streak!

I think the hitting will turn around - but the pitching is under the catagory of 'what you see is what you get'. I know it's early; but this staff is pretty much pitching to it's track record as we speak...Lester had a great game today even though the Sox lost. They'll be 0-10 after this Yankee series coming up (that's my attempt at a jinx ) Btw, although Youk looked ok afterwards, it almost looks like he hurt himself on that one play in the third or fourth inning. He appeared to be still showing the effects of it during his very next at bat, but then seemed to shake it off

Bye Bye Manny Ramirez - I guess getting caught on the junk again forced you to quit

He probably needn't worry about competition from the Philliebot. http://www.pcworld.com/article/225941/robot_throws_first_pitch_at_phillies_game.html

Clearly, it's only a matter of time before more robots take our jobs. It looks like Judgment Day just got here.

Didn't realize that the Phanatic had broken his wrist. That's pretty bad if your mascot ends up on the DL. Anita, the original, truncated version of that commercial was funnier, imo, but I can't find it. Still pretty funny, though.

In the originally aired spot Baldwin abruptly hangs up on Krasinksi after his rant.

The Yankees look good so far...
In first place playing .600 ball. It's early, but as I posted - looking good. For those who think money makes the yanks go round, why can't they just buy a great starting pitcher (which I think they need) ? Because the baseball world just doesn't work that way. Now, homerun hitters...that might just be another matter entirely.

HUGE Phillies fan here!! I am glad I found this thread. I didn't read the whole thread going back to last season, but I was wondering if anyone reads Sports Illudtrated? When the Yankees and the Phillies were playing in the World Series 2 seasons ago, there was an issue that came out during the series. In the featured article, the writer compared Derek Jeter & ARod to Lennon & McCartney. (Advance apologies to any Yankees fan, but I am not a fan of Alex R. and this analogy would directly compare Alex & Paul, however I have enormous respect for Derek J) Being a HUGE Bealtle fan, the article got my blood pressure boiling and I wrote a letter to the editor. Sports Illustrated choose my letter as the featured letter to the editor. "I can't agree with your comparison of Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez to John Lennon and Paul McCartney. As my favorite band, the Beatles, said, "Money can't buy me love"?but wow, did these Yankees ever buy themselves the best baseball team." I got my first personal lesson in how the media edits things and takes things out of context, etc. they deleted totally that I was a Phillies fan. (Of course, the fine print states they are allowed to edit.) My phone was ringing off the hook the day the issue came out, I couldn't believe how many people read SI! I had some e-mail correspondence with the editor later and she said everyone voted on my response as the best summation of how folks felt about the Yankees. My daughter was taking a sports marketing class in high school at the time, she was mortified that her teacher brought it up in class. P.S. Does anyone know if Paul roots for the Mets or the Yankees during his NY visits? With Citi Field being former Shea Stadium and his tribute, he may favor the Mets?

It appears that Paul is a Yankees fan ...... http://macca.paulmccartney.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=72216&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0&sid=84cedbf7901b5772219744c4e4d5f826

I initially thought it would be more likely Paul was a Yankees fan, but then he played the opening of the Mets Citi Field...so it had me wondering. I hope Roy Oswalt found everything OK in Mississippi. I didn't realize that a year ago his childhood home was destroyed in a twister, while Roy's mom and her dog hid in a closet. A very frightening image... Thanks for the link.

The Sports Illustrated playoff predictions are to have the Red Soxs winning the World Series. Red Sox over A's/Twins over Yankees then Red Sox over the Twins Phillies over Rockies/Giants over Reds then Giants over Phillies World Series: Red Sox over Giants
unclesox:
Haven't seen them to confirm but I heard both the New York Times and Sports Illustrated both predict the Red Sox and Giants to reach the World Series. No idea on who they have winning it all. I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much with how a lot of the media think my A's can win the AL West.

Congrats to Derek Jeter....I was there!!!
