Through a new outfit called Global Music Rights, music industry heavyweight Irving Azoff manages the performance rights of some 20,000 songs including works composed by The Eagles, Pharrell Williams, John Lennon and others. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/thr-esq/pharrell-williams-lawyer-youtube-remove-759877

It's funny you mention that - just yesterday morning I was watching a band called Yellow Matter Custard performing A Day in the Life on Youtube, and by last night it was pulled due to 'third party' bs. It was the only Beatles cover from that band (from what I could tell - didn't watch all their videos) that was band, regardless of whether they were primarily John, Paul or George songs Too bad as it was a nice cover

You Tube is littered with paid ads - I'm sure the reason has been to pay for song rights (and/or performance rights) - much like commercial radio. So another firm steps in to muddy the waters all the more - why(???) for MONEY - what they want!
