How Does Your Garden Grow?
-
It's beginning to thunder and we are to get about 2 inches of rain over the next two days. Hoping that helps my garden grow a lot. No problem for the tip on Growquest. I didn't want you to have any problems with them.

Thanks for all of the rose tips. I got my Mccartney rose from this site http://www.edmundsroses.com/ http://www.edmundsroses.com/dp3.asp?c=6&SKU=24234 The bush arrived in quick time, and I have to definitely say that I will order from them again. My first rose, from a very healthy plant, is absolutely gorgeous. For a climber, I would recommend a Don Juan. I have a sturdy one I have had for years...loads of red, fragrant flowers. The garden is in (beans, lettuce, cucumbers, green and butternut squash, and tomatoes). The peas were a casualty of a nest of baby bunnies who got under the gate. It looks like the little delinquents had their chainsaws with them.

Moonraker, Thanks very much for the link to Edmunds Roses. I checked them out & their prices are reasonable & so is the S&H fees. Looking to place an order soon. In the meantime, our various day lilies are starting to get buds on them. Planning to get more marigolds soon.

My two Veronica plants are looking rather gorgeous with their purple spikes in full bloom. Also my peonies are starting to open and the lavender plants are just around the corner...can't wait for those! I love to make little bouquets and send them to some special friends! .

I could cheerfully beat my DH! He was finishing to clear out the last of some old bushes that we were getting rid & quite tired from being in the humid weather & accidentally took out my pussywillows! Now I must wait to get new ones for next year.

Arrgh, I can't believe we got frost two nights ago. Some of the tropical type plants like melons may be done for. Beans were badly damaged but may recover. Peas and other things are fine, and at least I had some cucumbers and peppers in pots on the sunporch.

i can finally spend some time getting my garden going again - so many plants lost in our long winter this year - many late snowfalls and frosts. i'm very excited to hear of the McCartney tea roses; i just love tea roses and they seem to do well up here!! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http//www.edmundsroses.com/ http//www.edmundsroses.com/dp3.asp?c=6&SKU=24234

I ran into a problem with Edmunds Roses. I emailed & asked about forms of payment. I had to email them 5x before I got a complete answer from them. My DH surprised me with a new pussy willow plant & this morning I discovered he just placed an order for a rare black variety of pussy willows! Got a new cata log in yesterday's post from David Austen Roses.

Got surprised with a present of a dwarf lilac yesterday. So now I need to get that planted. Tomatoes are beginning to set.

Oooh I love poppies, Lisa! good for you! I have some as well...sooo pretty! My lavender plants are started to bloom now and I always make a special bouquet and send it to a special elderly British friend who lives in Florida. She's the mother of my friend Michele who chaperoned us to the Shea Stadium concert....she's always thrilled to receive it and loves the Vermont maple syrup as well.

Hey patti..feel free to drop the 611! Oooh I love lilacs as well ..their fragrance is out of this world...they are probably my favorite of all. They usually get blooming around here the end of May and are very prolific!! Good luck with yours, and enjoy your watering this evening

I hear ya, Patti! I do love gardening, but it really is alot of work and I really do have quite a few gardens to weed ops: I got quite ambitious when I was younger and kept creating new gardens and now I wish hadn't done quite so many Actually, I do enjoy the weeding though...it's theraputic and besides it a great summer workout!!

Very pretty, SurSteven...thanks for posting!

I just planted some lovely pink zinnias, a ginat calendula & a very pretty purple plant with pale pinkish white flowers called "Fine Wine" - the leaves look like giant purple shamrocks.
-
Sur Steven... thanks for sharing your pics... very beautiful Looks like the daisy's are really coming back this year, waiting to see if they are the yellow or the white ones? The purple cone flowers made it thru the winter too... The lilies are so pretty... I don't see the stargazers tho... Going to plant some freesias... love how they smell...

I got the dwarf lilac bush planted today. Now I'm thinking about surrounding it with some color.
