I just planted some Lilac Boomerangs ..... they are suppose to bloom .... then are quiet .... then re-bloom in the summer or early fall .... almost like a longer lilac ..... and they are smaller .... up to 4-5 feet at most. With all the rain .... so far they look okay.
Quoting myself ..... these came in beautifully The best that I have ever seen them to this time .....
Multiple blooming lilac's? Wow that sounds too good to be true! Are they really fragrant? Sounds like something I would love. I like to gather big bunches in a large vase to fill the house with that great fragrance. When they get really high, as they do, you have to get a step stool to cut them and miss the ones at the top! 5 foot sounds really manageable.
This one says bloom up to 4x. http://buygardenplantsonline.com/dwarf-josee-reblooming-lilac/
Thanks so much oobu! Every spring, I also find that for a couple of weeks, there is some tree that blooms with the most wonderful smell. This just happened a few weeks back. Does anyone know the name of that tree? I need to get one of those too!
I just discovered a new lilac sprout when cutting the undergrowth. Am transplanting it to an area I had planned to buy a bush for. Now, I've got something better than what I had in mind. Love, love, love lilacs

Still looking for more bushes to use for privacy next to the patio.
-
We have the tall Japanese Yew bushes and they form a superb privacy blocker. We just got our trimmed last week, so they take a few years to grow tall, but before we had them trimmed, they were about 7 feet high. They work very well for us. Hope you find something that works for you.

My idiot neighbor plowed down the 20' tall Japanses yews that were there for 30 years. They were a beautiful hedge & we were soo used to them. We've already had some 7' arborvitae planted there. But I need more maybe burning bushes?

Hum. We have one burning bush, but it's at the front by the door. It's not a good hedge b/c it loses its leaves in Nov.

I just need the bushes now for privacy by my patio. And I won't be out there much in November. So it's mostly summer privacy for this spot. But heck... I'd love to have bushes all the way around our lot. Yes, probably BIG evergreens.

BB's are ver nice when they turn colors.

I love the way lilacs smell. I transplanted 3 shoots this morning from one of ours. Hope they make it. AND, I FOUND my hydrangea that I thought had died, but turns out I had transplanted it last fall and it has foliage now. VERY happy about that.

Just got a beautiful pink hydrangea for a gift!

How thoughtful!

Got 2 pots of climbing roses today. Hubby put 2 pretty red metal trellises up in our yard with flower designs on them!

I missed my deadline of June 30th to have my heavy yard work done. Maybe by the 4th? Hope so. Today I cut back one of the lilac trees. Tomorrow, digging redbud mini-trees again.

About 4 of my tomato plants looked really dried up & just plain ol awful. I yanked out 2 of them & put in 4 new ones. The new ones that I bought had 2 in each pot so I actually put in 8. Hopefully they will be ok now.

Tomatoes take a lot of water to make 'em juicy!

Funny...I think the ones that died got too much water. My neighbor turned all of his gutters towards my property so we planted bushes on a mound. That stopped my side yard from flooding but I think his water got rerouted to my tomatoes. The plants on the other side of the garden were fine.

You said "dried up"...you didn't say "drowned"...Too Much Rain isn't good for any plant. Unless you're growing seaweed...of course.

well they looked all withered by the time I saw them.

That's too bad. Did the leaves turn yellow? I killed a bush once by watering it everyday for several days in a row. :
