How Does Your Garden Grow?

My DH finally planted Pinks & my beautiful Pink Oriental Lilies that our kid gave me for Mother's Day. The Columbine are thriving from all the rain.

Bought a burgundy hydrangea...it's beautiful!
Have never seen one that color! It may bloom in a different color in your soil next year, though. But, I'm sure you realize that. Mine bloomed light pink last year after I moved it. Bloomed dark periwinkle in it's original location. Editing to say I hope it DOES come back burgundy. I would love to see a burgundy hydrangea! WOW!
I know! I'll have to post a photo, if it makes it after a week away! If it didn't rain, I'm in trouble !
Hope so ð???
An update, forgot it just by the door and was away for 8 days! The flowers all dried but leaves were OK. Put it out in the rain overnight, and the flowers are coming in Periwinkle! Wish I had photographed it It was a beautiful burgundy, obviously watered with a colorant...

Still sounds pretty, though. Yeah, post a photo later this summer and let us see it when you're not so busy

Thanks Fan4 When I was 6 and lived in Texas she grew them outdoors...her garden pride plant! They always made her smile So every time a bloom pops open now, I think of her and smile. MOM Hope everyone had a nice Mothers Day!! They have some beautiful Gardinia trees on sale at Home Depot right now, if anyone loves Gardenias. Going to get one tomorrow! Prices seem lower this year! Will post the hydrangea when the garden grows in some. The lilys and lupine and my variegated azaleas are coming back! It's a new garden year 2. Going to get some clippings at my old house, hopefully! I had some beautiful bearded irises that I'm going to read up on how I can divide them and take some home. My Strawberry plant and daffodils wintered over in pots in the garage!

Such wonderful memories, Luv2. I think gardenias are one of the most fragrantly sweet scents, ever. Very nice of the new owner to let you get clippings from your previous home. Our lilacs are in bloom now and I could stand out there all day just taking in the scent.

Lilacs are probably my next favorite flower. I used to have 3 2story bushes 1 light purple, 1 dark purple and 1 white. I could cut large bunches of all three colors and put them through the house! Ohhhh the scent! Also love fragrant Freeshia, Orange Blossoms, Stargazer Lilies, Honeysuckle, there's a tree with yellow flowers that smells heavenly during a certain time of year. Trying to figure out that one too, so I can buy one! I wish these scents could be bottled! The owner is really nice to let me take clippings.

It snowed today ..... very minor minor ..... I thought it was dandelion seeds blowing ... went outside a few hours later and had some land on me and know for a fact it was snow. I say that because ..... it has hit warm temperatures of 60 and sometimes 70 degrees F. Trees and bushes have flowered and bloomed .... the rains have made things grow so fast ...I have to mow the lawn in less than a week and it is long - has stalled the mower out .... so then I get this idea of getting flowers and planting stuff around the house ... and along comes snow, cold and very cold - (protect your plants type of cold) .... So I am putting that off just a little bit longer now. My boomerang lilacs are starting to show .... soon they will bloom and I will bring some in the house The spring was nice on the hills .... sometimes it comes, sometimes it goes winter into summer and many times it teases spring .... things grow and start to bloom and then get slammed with cold .... this year was good and more consistent from cold to cool to warm .... because of the cold and traces of snow ..... the planting will wait just a bit longer ... I did clear the garden of weeds and the annual plants are looking good and strong ... I could not tell you what some are .... but they look good.

Turned very cold all of a sudden. Hoping to buy more flowers soon.

Like a weed with the regular rain and sunshine
-
I'm so not into planting flowers this year. Maybe I'll get to go to a New England fishing village and write. That's what I want to do.
-
Just got some pretty yellow lilies to plant in the flower bed.
-
The miracle of beautiful flowers... ENJOY!!!
Unusual flowers and plants Diversity in all colors, on Earth and under the sea and in the heavens...makes me see the beauty of God's imagination. -
Have friends who have been giving me homegrown tomatoes and farmer's market sweet corn. Big ears $5.oo a dozen...yum yum yum
-
^ My tomatoes too, are producing like crazy. Probably from all this heat...but so are the weeds in the tomato patch.
-
We all worked together to get rid of most of the weeds. Too hot to do much. Our rotten neighbor's kid pulled up the Chinese lanterns growing at the side of our house. He's in kindergarten & has the makings of a little thug. Grrrr

Interesting connection my garden has to all different types of birds and bees. I had a humming bird come up close .... I think I was sitting close to a flower basket that it wanted to get to .... it was cool looking Yesterday I saw a green looking bird that looked like it could have been someone's pet bird ...it was going after what looked like something that I should cut down by looks - but it is that bird's interest ..... Through the high 80's, and some 90's ..... and now cooling off .... I am glad that I also kept many flowers and hanging baskets looking good .... it did take some dedication to keep them looking good .... let a few days go by and they are gone .... keep up on them and they look good

Very lucky seeing a humming bird up close! We've had lots of them this past week, esp. over the weekend.
