I was thinking the same thing a few minutes ago. My Sunday dinner friends have one (hydrangea) in the backyard around 3 ft. in diameter. Have never seen a Hydrangea that big before.
-
I was thinking it must say Safe Haven as there's an S visible, no wait, that's not an A At my old house, I had 3 Hydrangeas that grew to be at least 4 foot high and almost as wide. They were blue. It must have been very fertile soil !! They were cut down every fall and seemed grow back with a vengeance !!!

Oobu, yeah, it's South Haven. L2T, I used to own a beachfront timeshare week, usually the first week in June, when hydrangeas were in bloom. We had to drive the last leg because there was no airport on the island. So, I'd enjoy them all the way to the beach. Anyway, I saw some really large ones. So, agreed, they can get pretty big.

They like sandy beach soil, just love them They really wilt with no water, and as soon as you water them, they come back like they'd never been wilted, which is pretty cool. I bought a lot of different types of daffodils, can't wait for them to come up!! Then bought some tulips, grape hyacinths, some unusual colored hyacinths and crocuses. I have some lilies from last summer and am going to get some mums in small pots to line my garden.

Those all sound lovely! Glad you got such a great deal on all of those, too. Aren't you supposed to plant them in the fall?

^ The weather certainly has been perfect for planting. I need to find a guy to help with a few things outside. I will need someone to clean the gutters & rake up all the leaves. Maybe the lawn guy can blow the leaves to the back.

Yes, the ever present leaves. Arragh! I hired someone to rake and bag leaves Friday. I worked along side. We bagged 18 together. Didn't get half. Good exercise, though.

Wow...18 bags! Does your village pick them up? Have to pay extra? Our garbage charges extra to pick them up. Al used to just rake them all to the back of the yard & they'd mostly be gone by spring. My willows & the silver maples barely start dropping till closer to or even after Thanksgiving.
-
Last year we had 12 bags at one time. They picked them all up. So, fingers crossed. Didn't charge extra as far as I know. My husband always has the yardman mulch them under the trees, but they end up blowing all over our "perfect" neighbors' yards and they get angry. So, I've started hiring someone to bag them at least once each fall. I would like to live in a condo.
-
condo...haha. Hey, I've been wondering what I will do. Esp with the winter coming. I have to disconnect the hose...run the lawn mower out of gas...I should have someone turn the garden over I guess. Yep...lotsa work.

Is this your first time doing all of the above? All of those little tasks must be painful reminders. Hugs. (((oobu)))

Yeah...he always took care of all that. There's a lot to think about now. Just trying to figure out what needs to be done.

Don't forget to turn the outside faucets off, hopefully you have turn offs inside, they are usually little lever that go up and down the pipe, for open. Move them to go across the pipe 90%, To close. Unfortunately I don't have them and didn't use the insulator covers that go over the faucets outside. Came home in a snowstorm last year and it was like a frozen water fountain Had to shovel out a foot of snow to the faucet under the bay window, lie in the wet snow and got soaking wet and frozen in the process of turning the outside faucet off!!!. Couldn't get the guy to dig up the soaker hose, which split....till now. Hard lesson learned.

Thanks for the good description. I think I saw a small lever. I'll go downstairs & check it again. I did find an insulator cover so I'll put that on too. Funny thing...my pain in the neck noisy neighbor was right out there when I was going to try disconnecting the hose...so he asked if he could help & I said yes. haha.
