Don't forget to turn the outside faucets off, hopefully you have turn offs inside, they are usually little lever that go up and down the pipe, for open. Move them to go across the pipe 90%, To close. Unfortunately I don't have them and didn't use the insulator covers that go over the faucets outside. Came home in a snowstorm last year and it was like a frozen water fountain Had to shovel out a foot of snow to the faucet under the bay window, lie in the wet snow and got soaking wet and frozen in the process of turning the outside faucet off!!!. Couldn't get the guy to dig up the soaker hose, which split....till now. Hard lesson learned.

Thanks for the good description. I think I saw a small lever. I'll go downstairs & check it again. I did find an insulator cover so I'll put that on too. Funny thing...my pain in the neck noisy neighbor was right out there when I was going to try disconnecting the hose...so he asked if he could help & I said yes. haha.

      nope no lever.

Some outdoor faucets are designed where the handle turns a rod inside the pipe that shuts the water off inside the wall, so that the water drains out of the pipe that goes through the wall, so it doesn't freeze.

I actually saw what you are talking about in a video on youtube. But this one is probably 60 years old so I doubt I have one. Maybe I'll just put on the insulated cover & hope for the best. Maybe if I get my furnace cleaned or something I can ask the guy about it.

With all the rain we've been getting, my vegetable garden has been underwater quite often My neighbor is apparently dumping his water in a different direction now & it's towards me! Both in the backyard & also out in front. I've told him to please redirect your perimeter water cos I can't even let the dog out to run. But...it hasn't helped.

My garden is growing well ... even the weeds disguise themselves and make it look really full ... until I find out later that it is a weed.

My garden was flooded on 2 different occasions. My neighbor is dumping water on me (well not me but my property) & it settled in my garden. The tomatoes & cucs were under water for days. Now they are finally picking up & I only lost a few plants due to the flooding.

Wish I had lilacs like these. My new little bush had 6 small blooms this year!

My asian lilies are chock full of buds. My snapdragons have tons of blooms this year. Planting my daffodil bulbs and my bearded yellow iris was gorgeous! Was going to get some raised beds containers and plant tomatoes, peppers and some lettuces in the inside garden boxes by my sliding door.

I planted my tomatoes & cucs finally. It's been so cold & wet early-mid May but finally was safe enough to plant.

So glad I planted a bunch of perennials, the Garden is really starting to do it's own thing this year. Have added many hibiscus this year which were a present from my sister. They are just so gorgeous and I have pinks, orange with 3 colors, red and yellow.  Tried Miracle Gro for blooms and what a dofference! My gardenia trees which I thought died are coming back, leaves everywhere. Need a different fertilizer.

One of the other beautiful things Im really enjoying are the bird feeders. They are drawing so many birds. Cardinals, Goldfinches, red headed woodpeckers, lots of house finches  whose little babies are finally coming to the feeders. The Robins and Morning doves eat from the grass and then the Grackles. It's so nice to hear birds in any room in the house!
