Monster Comet to Arrive Soon !
-
I'm frightened--2 and a half miles across and very big and deep and due to appear in the skies Sept. 28 and be visible for over two weeks and NASA and other scientists fear it might come too close and hit us--I need to read more on this, back soon with more info, do y'all know about this
-
Susy where did you read this, somewhere reliable? There are a lot of doomday you tubes
-
I heard about some comet, but not that it was maybe going to hit us. Now what I did hear (and wrote it down) was that the Apophis meteor was going to come very close to Earth on April 13, 2029 and then it will come around again in 2036 and possibly be a direct hit then. (I will be 81 then!)
-
Thanks for the info ops: I didn't read the entire story before entering this thread--it's not really going to hit us
-
I like comets. They're fun to watch in the sky, have a few good songs and are great for cleaning toilets.
-
Did this comet really come? Appear in the sky? Was very cloudy those nights where I am. Now NASA tells of a major "Halloween Asteroid" due to pass by the earth ( uncomfortably close) the night of October 31 !! Yikes
-
The universe is pretty big. The odds of a tiny dot wiping out our tiny dot are pretty small.
-
Many scientists say that's what wiped out the dinisaurs all those eons ago. Dinosaurs

Hale Bopp was numero uno in my book - tail easily visible to the eye...
-
Btw, here in eastern US, we won't be able to see this Halloween meteor because it's expected to pass during the early afternoon eastern time zone (closest approach predicted to occur at 1:05 PM)

I'm partial to Halley's Comet.
-
I heard about the comet coming, I also heard about the Blob in the Atlantic ocean!!
-
Not to worry, if it's a really big one, the size that could cause another extinction, we now know that we would only get about a half day warning, and most likely only if you subscribe to NASA or some other cosmos related newsfeed. So enjoy your life as if a comet is coming...don't put off until tomorrow, the fun you could have today!

There is an asteroid that is coming on Oct. 31st that they are calling a "near miss" but it will pass 300,000 miles from us! (the moon is 238,855 miles from us) http://www.cnn.com/2015/10/21/us/asteroid-earth-nasa-halloween-feat/index.html

Comet Lovejoy has recently been discovered to be spewing out ethyl alcohol and sugar at the rate of around 500 bottles of wine per second. They have now nicknamed it... "The Happy Hour Comet" http://www.cnn.com/2015/10/25/us/comet-lovejoy-spews-alcohol/index.html

Heard more about this on the radio last night. It was only discovered a few days ago. I might get a big Halloween bag and try to catch it!
-
Maybe it's made of Rocky Road fudge
-
Yum!
-
Now I have a sweet tooth for sweets!!!
-
Maybe this one will be another sweet alcohol one... And spray barrels full of Spooky wine our way... hold up your glasses as it passes by! http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/10/27/scientists-discover-comet-spewing-booze-and-sugar-into-space
