You hadn't answered my challenge, by the way. Economy is screwed, maybe in a sexier way, but anyway... I don't think "Wall Street/Corporations/1% rules the world" sound shocking these days... They say it... The 2 richest finance investors in America say it... Buffett and Soros. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/plum-line/post/theres-been-class-warfare-for-the-last-20-years-and-my-class-has-won/2011/03/03/gIQApaFbAL_blog.html BUFFETT: Actually, there?s been class warfare going on for the last 20 years, and my class has won. We?re the ones that have gotten our tax rates reduced dramatically. No "conspiracy thinking"... themselves opinion!. SOROS: "The functions that cannot and should not be governed purely by market forces include many of the most important things in human life, ranging from moral values to family relationships to aesthetic and intellectual achievements. Yet market fundamentalism is constantly attempting to extend its sway into these regions, in a form of ideological imperialism. According to market fundamentalism, all social activities and human interactions should be looked at as transactional, contract-based relationships and valued in terms of a single common denominator, money. Activities should be regulated, as far as possible, by nothing more intrusive than the invisible hand of profit-maximizing competition. The incursions of market ideology into fields far outside business and economics are having destructive and demoralizing social effects. But market fundamentalism has become so powerful that any political forces that dare to resist it are branded as sentimental, illogical, and naive. Yet the truth is that market fundamentalism is itself naive and illogical. Even if we put aside the bigger moral and ethical questions and concentrate solely on the economic arena, the ideology of market fundamentalism is profoundly and irredeemably flawed. .To put the matter simply, market forces, if they are given complete authority even in the purely economic and financial arenas, produce chaos and could ultimately lead to the downfall of the global capitalist system" The Crisis of Global Capitalism, 1998 Source that names Buffett and Soros the 2 richest investors in the world. one of these days we're going to discuss who are sexier, conservatives or liberals? Ok... you want something? Wall Street reform, what Wall Street reform? Wall Street rules the USA and half of the world, and not very well... Wall Street reforming itself if ever. The problem on USA and world's economy are the same kind than in 2008 but worse, close to collapsing. The USA endebtment is also the biggest ever. The 99%, Occuppy Wall Street, the price of inequality, etc. USA is right now, the developed country with more increasing inequality (and also already with more inequality). "The problem" is far from being fixed, is increasing. http://www.vanityfair.com/politics/2012/05/joseph-stiglitz-the-price-on-inequality (I'm no traditionalist, I don't even keep the liberals traditions )
I don't disagree with you. The problem isn't fixed because Wall Street OWNS the U.S. Senate. Despite overwhleming evidence to the contrary, the banking and investment industry insists on self-regulation. Their lobbyists write the bills. Senators endorse and pass them, all the while acepting enormous campaign contributions. Senators are whores.

I'm not big on politics but after the shootings in Colorado I've gotta say that Americas policy on guns needs to be reviewed. It seems to be far to easy to buy, own and use a gun over there.

It seems absolutely retarded to me that in a first world country like America guns are still legal to own. I mean, you'd get locked up in the UK or most of Europe if they found you owned one. Obama needs to make that big step and make it completely illegal to own them. He's the man, he needs to just put a stop to it. Obviously the problem wouldn't go away overnight and there will aaaaalways be idiots that go on mass killing sprees, but it would certainly go some way to helping alleviate the problem. And in my humble opinion it is a problem. America has a lot of things going for it but this certainly isn't one of them!

Yesterday Republicans in senate filibuster bill to end taxbreaks for companies sending jobs overseas. So the filibuster prevents the bill from even coming to a vote The bill was introduced by Democrats and all but 3 republicans took part in the filibuster. Republicans love sending jobs overseas even when we need jobs here. And mittens of course he made his millions sending jobs overseas and that's part of his plan if he should be elected. The Ryan budget he approved continues the tax breaks for companies sending jobs overseas with NO incentive for companies who hire here Republicans are an evil twisted bunch Here is President Obama talking about how mittens economic plans would create about 800,000 jobs OVERSEAS1
Faux news even did a fact check on it and said that it would be good for multinational companies (like mittens Bain) but not good for the American worker. -

You underestimate the power of the gun lobby, and you overestimate the U.S. Congress. They don't like to get sh-t done. Their goal is to only pad their pockets via legalized bribery from super-PAC campaign contributions and insider-trading. Republicans are basically owned by the N.R.A.

Ah well there's noting new there about people in power being easily bribed, so...shoot them all, start again and THEN make it illegal

Republicans are not just owned by the NRA (National Rifle Assoc.) they are also owned by the big oil companies and the big banks. This week the English parliament had to tell Barcleys Bank (which is involved in LIBOR) to stop giving money to mittens. Mittens has scheduled a huge fund raiser in London when he goes there for the Olympics. What do you think Barcleys wants from mittens why of course they love that he wants to gut the new banking laws. So the US republicans want to elect a pres. who will double down on corporate power and create even more wealth inequality in US

Well, the Senate and the president are "in this together"... I mean, does it make any sense thinking like "when it's a good thing it was Obama's achievement, when it's a bad thing, it's the Senate's fault." Like if Obama played the good cop and the Senate played the bad cop... Or, stated in a different way, if Obama can't do much because of the Senate... whatever happens when he's president it's not much an achievement of him anyway, cause he can do little about anything... This is Soros (Wall Street's idol!, The McCartney of financial markets...) about politicians and lobbies in the same book, 1998 pxxvi "People seem largely to vote their pocketbooks and they lobby for legislation that serves their personal interests. What is worse, elected representatives also frequently put their personal interests ahead of the common interest. Instead of standing for certain intrinsic values, political leaders want to be elected at all costs-and under the prevailing ideology of market fundamentalism, or untrammeled individualism, this is regarded as a natural, rational, and even perhaps desirable way for politicians to behave. This attitude toward politics undermines the postulate on which the principle of representative democracy was built. The contradiction between politicians' personal and public interests was, of course, always present, but it has been greatly aggravated by prevailing attitudes that put success as measured by money ahead of intrinsic values such as honesty. Thus the ascendancy of the profit motive and the decline in the effectiveness of the collective decision-making process have reinforced each other in a reflexive fashion. The promotion of self-interest to a moral principle has corrupted politics and the failure of politics has become the strongest argument in favor of giving markets an ever freer reign."

And... anyway... isn't almost always the President just one of these Senators being elected?...
