Hope everyone's pet is safe. Did you ever notice that if you rub your dogs forehead above his eyes, in a round massaging motion, that he seems to become hypnotized?
I'll have to give that a try.
You will become the dog whisperer... Right between where his eyebrows would be and up a bit

Wow! I wonder if that would get them to stop yipping, lol!!!

What will your dog eat? Mine likes baby carrots, lettuce & green peppers. None of my dogs ever liked lettuce but this one takes a piece while I am fixing a salad.

I'll have to try baby carrots. So far, they eat anything that drops on the floor by accident! I fed them some left over apple today and they ate that.
-
Even with the baby carrots I cut them lengthwise into maybe 3-4 pieces. Lucy used to eat apple & even banana. This guy must have been banished from the dining room...he does not mooch during our meals.

Check your yards, gardens, etc. for unexpected poisonous plants. I found an ugly green plant growing in our side yard. My DH did some research & it turns out it is foxglove which is highly poisonous & deadly to dogs & other animals. He's going to kill it by pouring gasoline on it & then digging up the entire plant, roots & all. We don't know how it got there - perhaps a pod or seeds were blown in by the wind & took root. Fortunately foxglove takes up to 2 years to flower.

Be careful everyone... if you go to dog parks or even pet stores. The dog flu is spreading. http://www.chicagotribune.com/suburbs/daily-southtown/news/ct-sta-dog-flu-st-0430-20150429-story.html
I took ours in yesterday to a different groomer. They said the dog flu is only in NW part of the state, close to your neck of the woods. Sure hope it doesn't spread down here. Yikes! Good thing your boy doesn't have to get groomed.
Yeah, I don't even want to take him to Petsmart...even the vet! I hope it all goes away soon.
I was reading about that the other day that this is going around the Midwest!

Yes, it is awful. They said to stay away from dog parks & doggie day care. Those day care or boarding businesses must be hurting now. They've also said that the virus germs can stay alive on hard surfaces too.

Thanks for the fpxglove tip! I'll calendar looking up a photo of that plant!

Sat. I took the girls to the doggie clinic to get shots. A lady told me her dog had it. She lives about 30 miles north of us. She said they charge $180 to do the flu test. She talked them into giving, selling her the meds anyway and her dog got better. Said it took about 3 wks. And was awful!

There are MANY plants toxic to our pets. Even tulips. Check this out: http://dogs.about.com/od/dogandpuppyhealth/a/Poisonous-Plants-And-Your-Dog.htm

They are supposed to be coughing, spitting up, runny eyes, lethargic & not eating.

Coco didn't get groomed b/c her distemper had expired last month. My bad. Anyway, I'm thinking telling them I have to pick her up in a couple hrs. On Sat. And see if they'll do it.

Well ..... my dog is going on the D.L. for a while this season .... He has been limping slightly .... yet runs good .... he did not want to go on walks on the way there and then returning to home he was strong. I thought in the early going ... it was stiff from not walking as much in the cold weather ... or he just needed to do a few walks and work out a minor problem ... I didn't want to rush to the VET and it was nothing ..... and at the same time did not want to let it go too long .... He went to the VET ..... they did the check ... had others in the office confirm their guesses ... did X-rays ..... and are strongly guessing a torn ligament He is on meds for now .... I am letting him out .... but not going for walks with him They are suggesting surgery (Dogs that have this happen are at risk for the other leg doing the same as a 70% odds with his breed) He will return to the VET soon to discuss options ..... another possibility ..... though tougher with his size is to make him do as minimum as possible with no surgery ... he runs, climbs stairs and plays hard and strong ..... it is going to be tough he does lay down a lot ..... it is just trying to get him not to dart all around .... and it sounds terrible to say this .... but it costs $$$ ..... I will wait and listen to the options and what needs to be done ..... a very bummer for him .... and now I know for sure and will not think of it as him getting out of a walk .... he's only in the 4 year old range .... I thought it would be a little longer until he might have had some kind of issues ..... sigh

^^ I am sorry to hear of your dogs problems The_Fool. My last dog is having the same issues. Plus he has a tumor that is growing. I am going to have done what I can to help him, as he is my last baby now. But I made a promise to myself that if he dies, I will not have another dog if I cannot afford him/her. I have never not been able to take care of my animals and it is not fair to me or him. All my life I have had a dog. All my life. Good luck to you all...

oh Fool...so sorry to hear this. A torn ligament? Did he stumble? Crap...I hate when this type of thing happens. Can you maybe tape it up like with an ace bandage? oh poor baby. I watched an episode of Pitbulls & Parolees & there was a great dane jumping over a pittie in the backyard & it stumbled & it's leg bent all kinds of funny. It was limping & they said lets give it a day & low & behold it was fine the next day. Why can't that happen more often in our lifes??? Or why can't they be covered under our insurance? Keep us posted & give him a big kiss for me. Now I'm gonna start watching my dog. He gets the zoomies outside & runs like a greyhound. He slammed into me & almost knocked me over. I'll be the one to get hurt...not him. Kittay...hope your dog feels better too.

Rocketman has surgery on Thursday morning. I am putting it on credit card and worry about it later. I just hope he makes it. They are taking off his tumor...
