what do you think of Dogs
-
Still my all time favorite pet trick over the years has been: Gizmo the Cat
-
GYPSYGIRL:
I love the way my wee Yorkie wiggles & gets all excited when I tell her "Let's go see: or "Let's go find"!
I know!! Charmy would 'dig' in her water bowl when it was hot! It was so cute!!! She would then spill half the water, and half of the other water was on her

what are dogs for ????????????????????

Is there anyone else here who dresses up their dogs (and cats) for Halloween? Or for any occasions/holidays at all? Our oldest dog refuses to even wear a sweater but our Yorkie loves getting dressed up.

I love dogs dressed up for Halloween!!! So cute, and the costumes are all so amazing.... I can't believe how creative people are with their dog's costumes. I think dogs are a gift from God.... they are man's companion...they are here to show us LOVE

No. My dogs don't like dressing up. They succeed to take off their little shirts, I dunno how, haha. They certainly are a gift from God. They're man's best friend.

You can adopt purebreds from your local shelter. Or you can find one on petfinder.com...I did!

Also depends on the breed. My DH teases me about having our Yorkie wear her rain coat & hat when it rains. Until I pointed out 2 macho (ha) men walking their dogs in the rain today. The bulldog had a yellow rain slicker & the chihuahua had on a pink rain coat & hood!

I was watching a puppy/dog for someone. That person took off. I walked the dog and enjoyed playing with it too. It has been awhile since I have walked a dog. Another person came over and the dog slipped past them and ran down the street ... Then it was GONE! I walked around and even went back home and drove around with my car. No sign of the dog ... now how was I going to tell the person that I lost their dog? A neighbor only a few houses away ..... saw the dog and put a leash on its collar .... saw some of us looking ..... knocked on my house door -- but I was not home. Then knocked on my next door neighbor's house. He had seen me walking the dog earlier and knew it was mine. (He thought I got a new dog). I get back home all bummed out that I lost a dog that I was suppose to be watching ..... and he had it in his backyard and I was able to put the dog back in the house. Glad all these neighbors were looking out for me. I did tell the person about the puppy/ dog getting out .... it was easier to say because I had the dog inside my house.
-
^ yes, you have to be careful with some dogs! My dog was a hunting dog & she will follow her nose if she picks up a scent. I have never had her off leash when we go on our walk/run at the park. She'd never come back. Her nose tajes over & she's gone! Of course, some dogs are always off leash & are obedient. Not mine...

The dog that I had ..... could go for a walk without a leash (I used one just in case and for a good practice) .... I took him off the leash in a field and places like the beach if I was far enough away from everyone. He was a Border Collie .... a very quick learner .... he walked so well .... he got more compliments than I ever will in my life I used to like to have him be good company when I had to do stuff around the house ..... It helped to walk the dog that I was watching .... it was the first dog that I have walked since my dog ...... (it was a puppy and would take some time before it would walk at a good pace and casual at times too).

oh Border Collies are very neat looking dogs. They can be trained to do a number of things! You should start looking at some dogs at your local shelter & see how you feel about them. Or look up "border collie" (if you want that breed again) on petfinder.com. You can type in the breed & search by your zip code. They will show you all the dogs available in or near to your zip. I just like to check out what's available. Poor babies.

I have done that ..... in fact there is one this weekend that I will try to get there. (A bit of a drive - but can be worth it if I find one I like). It is sad to see dogs in the shelters or rescues ..... some are older and may be a good fit for the right person. I just went through the older dog and the care and attention ..... which is why I am looking for a younger one if possible. (It may sound a bit selfish .... but it has to be a good fit for both of us). * Some rescue and shelters require that you have a "Fenced in yard." I do not. When I moved here .... my dog was already trained and took just a slight bit to have him stay around. I really like Border Collies .... yet -- I may get something completely different -- so it is a new dog to me.

LOL...that's why I wanted an older dog! haha...our 17 year old had died & I knew I didn't have the time right now for a pup & after losing an older dog I wanted kinda the same calmness in a dog. Our dog is older maybe 7-8 & is so sweet. I just love her. I think dogs know when they have been rescued from a death sentence. They are so appreciative. We looked for 8 months before we found that special face. Good luck to you & I hope you find one that fits!
