what do you think of Dogs

I had an Airedale Terrier that used to climb the fence around his doghouse, when it rained. It was 6 foot high! His name was Mack the Knife he did this in thunderstorms! Usually, we would get him inside before it came to that! We didn't believe he was climbing the fence until we saw him doing it one day... He was so smart!

haha...and on the same page as that "scientists defrost ancient dog" (which was pretty cool BTW...) is a racehorse modeling a 3 piece suit. What will they think of next?

They had story on that on the news the other day...very cool and funny!

Have experienced first hand why female dogs are called bitches. Yep. Cupcake apparently got me back for only giving her one tortilla chip by running downstairs, peeing on the oriental rug, and then standing at the back door barking to be let out. Arrrrrrrrrrgh!!!!!!!!!!!
-
haha. Willy hasn't learned how to bark to be let out. He is on a really good schedule & if we just let him out at the same time every day we don't have a problem. Though I am trying to teach him to bark to let us know.
-
He will eventually learn. These girls didn't know how to do that for a long time b/c the breeder had a doggie door and they let themselves out. Yeah, so we had them on a schedule. But, there started to be a lot of accidents in the foyer after we got Coco. Had to throw out those rugs. They weren't oriental rugs, but I really liked them and don't know where to get more. Cupcake is lucky she only got scolded and crated after she came back in. Kidding, of course. What else can you do to a little 15 pounder?

They must have a really small crate. We were at a dog park today & Willy started baying at an Irish Wolfhound there! He was howling right back! There were 3 wolfhounds there! They were all running around.

Our neighbors had company & they had 2 medium sized dogs in their yard. So glad our Aussie was in our fenced in yard & couldn't get at the other dogs. This is the 2nd time he took a very instant dislike to the other dogs. This time he went over to our fence, barked & barked & growled & kicked up dirt with his back feet. And he's not aggressive. I gues he was warning the other dogs not to even think of trying to get over the fence.

Spent the weekend with my little "nephew" dog. He's so protective of his "mama" when anyone tries to hug her...

Did you guys ever train Willy to find Morel (Sponge) Mushrooms? It's almost that time of year! YUM!
-
No, no mushroom hunting for him. He'd eat them all anyway...and probably all the poisonous ones. That's how my luck is going. I would like to have him do some scent work in the yard. I've seen a guy do it with a hot dog. Drag it along & then break off a piece. Go around the yard. Then stop dragging it & break off a piece. See if he can find it.

Cupcake is standing in the backyard barking with her head tilted up. Just barking. At nothing. I'm always nervous if she does that for very long. Don't want to annoy the neighbors.
-
she must see or smell something!
-
I suppose. Grass, forsythia, trees, etc.
-
My neighbor was rototilling part of his garden & just the smell of the fresh soil was enough to set Willy off the other day. And then that same guy on another day was walking around in the garden with a hoodie on & rubber knee boots & Willy was going berserk.

That is a cool way to find all the hot dog stands on a road trip. Even better than GPS.

He has a great nose. I do a similiar thing in the house with peanut butter...a tiny bit on his toys scattered around & he finds them all.
