what do you think of Dogs
-
My new owner is a Toy Poodle. He seems to be way starter than me.

Mine is also more stubborn than me.

They are such creatures of habit...the dogs not the hubby. They missed Mom!
He said they did not make a sound until I got home late in the afternoon. How can they hold it all night and all day like that? It's beyond me.
-
When my owner finally does go outside after his mom leaves for work in the morning, his do do is seemingly equal to if not more than his body weight.

Is that normal? Poor doggie.

So I was the crazy woman you may have heard in Chicago or Liverpool or PA or CA or wherever else screaming, "Coco! Coco! Come back," about a gazillion times. We were outside our subdivision walking on the sidewalk and a couple was standing in their garage with the garage door up, talking. Coco must have gotten spooked and took off running, crossed three streets. Thank goodness she took a business break. I took a knee and kept calling and then she came to me. The nice couple followed with Cupcake, who will befriend anyone. Those two are polar opposites. If you came to our house, Cupcake would be in your lap in no time and Coco would dash upstairs to her bed. Anyhoo, glad no cars came. Nice reprieve.

Willy will take off at the drop of a hat. Thank goodness the whole yard is fenced in. He had me chasing him for at least 20 minutes. All over the subdivision...going through so many backyards. grrrrrr

Oh gosh. Willy has the energy to run off. Wow. Coco, has always come right back to me when she has gotten loose before. I'm going to get her a different halter after that little episode.

I had opened the overhead garage door & he wasn't hooked up & he just took off. I'll try to not do that again. That's good that yours will come back.

Not fast enough today! She crossed 3 streets!!!! Rocco would do that, too. He would run like Willy. The last time, I gave up calling him and left the gate open. He came home 30 minutes later. Would Willy come back on his own?

I doubt it. He was probably a hunting dog at one time so once he'd pick up a scent he'd be gone. Although a few people online say to leave your clothes outside & they may be able to smell them.

We were dog sitting once, and the dog got out and ran off...into a strange neighborhood... At 1:00 in the morning, about 5 of us were roaming the neighborhood and trying to be quiet...Here Cotton...Cotton, here girl...about an hour later, we found her... That was a close call, it was my aunts granddaughter and she was frantic!!! When I was young, our family dog would escape and run to the vet!!! We wondered what was going on at the vet, hat the dog would escape there!!
-
That sounds like a nightmare! Glad one of the five finally caught the doggie. Can imagine how stressful that was for you. The vet story is funny.

So the last 3 times I took Willy to daycare (once a week) he was shaking like a leaf & didn't even want to get out of the truck. Today it took me 10 minutes to get him out! I didn't know what to do & I really didn't even want to leave him. But they assured me that he'd be ok. When I picked him up I asked how he was & one of the girls said she was with Will. She said he'd rather be with people & had to put a thunder shirt on him to get him to go in the group. I don't know what caused this. I asked the girl if there were BIG dogs cos he's scared of really big dogs...and doesn't like big fluffy hairy dogs. They said no, no big dogs. Maybe I'll need to email the owner to see what to do. I hated leaving him there in that condition but I didn't want to baby him either.
-
Have you tried other doggie daycares to compare his reaction?
-
No, I haven't. You gotta bring in all kinds of paperwork with proof of shots & all that...so I haven't checked around. And he was fine for a year at this place. They have some classes...maybe I will sign up for one of those so I can get some more feedback from them. I would think something happened there that has him so fearful.
-
Yeah. Sounds like it.
-
maybe I'll stop taking him so often.
-
Just a thought. Do they have any new employees? Has to be a reason why his behavior changed.

Poor Willy! I wonder what happened to make him not want to go now.
