what do you think of Dogs
-
Does anone else ever think there dogs only playing with toys n rolling over to get it's stomach tickled 'cause it thinks that's what we want and if it does it it thinks it's going to get something to eat. All our dog really seems intreasted in is eating and walking.

This is so cute! Reminds me of my old dog who passed away... I miss him so. He thought he was human and would stand up too!! Should have taught him to dance. http://www.wimp.com/merenguedog/

Maybe he was hungry or had to go out, or just wanted to play I really miss my sisters dog He's the cutest and smartest little poodle. Every time I hugged my sister he would bark tho... lol I think he felt left out... awwww I wonder if other dogs do that? I like to bark to him on the phone ops:

Dogs can get jealous with humans too!!! We used to have a chihuahua and whenever I would hug my mom she would bark at scratch at me!! Sometimes I bark at my dogs too hahaha

I tossed a frisbee in the water and my dog swam after it and even completely dunked his head under ..... He swims well Ran up and down a beach with him ..... he even chases sand if you throw it and catches some in his mouth Also with the sand ..... turns into the diggingist dog ..... sand flies everywhere and he seems to be on a mission to dig a big hole fast (Luckily he doesn't dig like that around my house) I have taken him for a few car rides -- so he doesn't think of the car as a bad thing or a stress inducer
-
That's funny with the sand. He prolly tries to catch each little pebble! What else would a pup do? As far as car rides...we had just adopted our dog & then found out that we had to drive across the country to deliver a job. What to do? We took her with even though we had no idea how she'd travel. We didn't want to put her *back* in a kennel after just being FREED! And she was just fine...good traveler!!!

Over this past weekend, I was moved to witness a blind lady being led about by her guide dog (on several occasions). Now this is one thing that dogs certainly have over cats (even though I generally prefer the latter).

I found this quote, and thought it best to post here as it has to do with dogs: "This soldier, I realized, must have had friends at home and in his regiment; yet he lay there deserted by all except his dog. I looked on, unmoved, at battles which decided the future of nations. Tearless, I had given orders which brought death to thousands. Yet here I was stirred, profoundly stirred, stirred to tears. And by what? By the grief of one dog. " -Napoleon Bonaparte, on finding a dog beside the body of his dead master, licking his face and howling, on a moonlit field after a battle.

yes indeed there are many. I just started a thread on the "what's that you're doing" area for animal poems.

Yesterday was one year since I found Charmy. So grateful to God that He helped me find her.

My DH gets my Yorkie going by getting up from the sofa & saying: "Let's go see what's in the fridge!" And she runs across the sofa, jumps to the floor & starts tearing around & barking! Her reward is a tiny piece of cheese.

Really cute AND GREAT use of a McCartney song!

I found this article to be so moving. It is about a soldier who lost his life in Afghanistan attemping to save his beloved K-9 partner: http://www.lifewithdogs.tv/2011/08/fallen-soldier-lost-life-attempting-to-save-dog/ may they rest in peace together.

I enjoyed taking my dog for a walk tonight He is walking much much better - sometimes he hears a car go by or a person walks by and he tries to scatter or gets unsure (he needs to socialize and get more comfortable with strange situations, people and places) .... It may take the effort someone who trains dogs .... because I may think I am doing the right thing in my working with my dog - only to find a better technique or consistent way, a method to work through and with my dog's behavior ...... people want to pet him and I have to say -- I don't know what he will do - sometimes he casual and sometimes he wants to snap or I see the hair go up on his back ..... My previous dog was better at it .... (I think because this one is a rescue dog and I do not know 100% how he may have been treated - even just quality attention in his early days).

My sister once had a very shy dog & "they" told her to hang out at the plaza where a lot of people would see them & pet her...the dog not my sis! haha...although maybe...no no let's not go there! : But if yours is raising his hackles (we call it a mohawk on my dog) at people, that's probably fear. Poor baby. I just looked up the spelling of hackles & found this on dog body language: http://www.wagntrain.com/BodyLanguage.htm http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080306150800AA1UFRK Mine is a hunting dog & does it when she smells something in our yard...usually the skunk! Ewwwww...hasn't gotten sprayed...YET.
