How's it going my fellow Beatles fanatics? I hope that the weekend is treating all of you well. I just saw the Documentary entitled "ALL THINGS MUST PASS!" This documentary is about the legendary Tower Records which began in Sacramento, California and worked its way all over the world. This Documentary is really about the glorious rise and tragic fall of what is in my opinion as well as many others, the greatest record store EVER!! Did anyone here on the forum ever go to Tower Records in California or anywhere in the world in the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's? I'd like to hear your experiences at Tower Records. I lived in Sacramento, California as well as L.A. for a combined 29 years so I'm very familiar with Tower Records. I know all of the people that were interviewed in this Documentary, Tower Records was my second home away from home. I can also honestly say that I did a lot of partying at Tower Records during my Teenage years! And what song is used for this Documentary? That's right, you guessed it, "All Things Must Pass" by the late great George Harrison. Colin Hanks, the son of Tom Hanks, made this Documentary! If any of you want to know the entire history of the legendary Tower Records, I highly recommend that you watch this Documentary.

I used to love going to the Tower Records in Ann Arbor in the 90s! I went to the one here in S.F. before they closed it down a few times.

        Detroit, Comerica Park 2011

        Washington D.C., Nationals Park 2013

        San Francisco, Outside Lands 2013

        San Francisco, Candlestick Park 2014

        Detroit, Joe Louis Arena 2015

        Sacramento, Golden 1 Center, 2016

        San Jose, SAP Center, 2019

        Oakland Arena, 5/6 and 5/8 2022

I've been to the Ann Arbor Tower Records many times!!! I can honestly say that I've been to every Tower Records in all of California!!! Tower Records was more than a record store, it was a way of life!! The party's in the back room, for employees only, were legendary!! Steve Perry, from JOURNEY, was a frequent visitor to both Tower Records in Ann Arbor and the main Tower Records in Sacramento on Watt and El Camino. I also saw Metallica at the main Tower Records (Watt & El Camino) in the parking lot in the early 90's, I was like 3 ft. away from the stage and Metallica!! Find it on youtube, it is there in all its glory.

I didn't know that about Steve Perry and the Ann Arbor location! Those are the only two Tower Records I had ever been to. Its sad now to see both Tower and Virgin (as well as all the others) gone, along with so many bookstores.

Thanks to the internet and Napster, record stores were getting killed!! Its so sad about Tower Records closing their stores in the US!! The documentary stresses that there are many Tower Records stores still open in Japan!!

I bought New at the Tower in Tokyo. They have most, but not all, of Paul's studio albums. They have all The Beatles albums, Past Masters and Anthology, of course. I got Paul Simon's latest the last time I was in Tokyo. Now that he has a new one coming out, I'm going to have to go back.

How are you doing HaileyMcComet? Tower Records is the best!! No record store did it better than Tower Records!! Every time I went to Tower Records, I felt like a kid in a candy store!
