Got it and replied!

Feeling somewhat better these days. Except me hip of course. Ahhhhyes, as Gilda Radner once said, it's always something. Let's hope it stays better. I'm sure tired of the other! Maybe I should write a book. Call it "Life Is A See-Saw" or something like that.

Once again, how things can change--this time overnight. I got bad news this morning from my Orthopedic Dr. I've been waiting for over 2 weeks for news on the testing he ordered for my left hip, which has seriously excelerated in pain. Well I got it today. He says it is inoperable. That my bones have deteriorated so much sugery would actually be too dangerous. Too many complications--including infection, and paralysis--plus my system is just too fragile. He says pain management is the only course open. Where's (Dr) "House" when ya need him, hey?

So sorry to hear this Laura! What is the diagnosis on your hip? Is it osteoarthritis or damage from the accident?
-
It's actually both. The accident seems to have accelerated the deterioration of everything there: the hip, femur, and the pelvis itself. He says my bones aside from being way too small, look like swiss cheese. A lot of holes in them. Any surgery would probably cause the whole area to crumble. Not to mention affect the spine. He says I'm a very rare case. Doesn't make me feel much better. On the plus side maybe more powerful painkillers will help my anxiety--tho that has finally eased up quite a bit. Wonder what this news will do to it.....I see my GP in early June. We're gonna have to have a serious talk about upping those meds.

Well, I landed in hospital again last Friday. A few days before I had been suffering from what I thought was a nagging upper backache. On Friday I woke up to that ache screaming, as well as my chest. It hurt to breathe. So staff called an ambulance. At the hospital, after running several tests, including heart tests, and a CT scan, they decided I had really hurt my back and upper spine, by pulling out of my closet my manual wheelchair by myself. (I'm kinda independant that way). The scan also revealed 3 upper discs had fused together. I was lucky--one could've cracked. Anyways after a shot for pain, and a lecture about manhandling heavy stuff, (don't!), they sent me home. To rest a few days, and pain allowing then get back to my usual routine. So I'm spending another day restricted to my room, resting , and having meal trays. Tomorrow I'm supposed to get back to "normal". Whatever that is.

^ Be careful! I tend to do the same thing. I recently fell off of a stool & tore a ligament in my foot while outside trying to fix a hole in the shed roof. I was fixing a hole not where the rain gets in but where the darn squirrels have been messin with me! lol
-
Ouch! Those muscle/ligament things tend to take a while to heal don't they? And sometimes show up. Now my left side is aching. Sigh. Independance is not always a good thing! Btw. Happy July 4th!
-
^ yes it took about 2 months for my foot to start feeling a bit normal.
And a happy belated Canada Day to you.
-
Thank-you.

Little Laura and oobu, sorry to hear about your accidents! Please be more careful! And oobu, I hope you eventually called a contractor to fix the shed roof! I had a mama squirrel get in my attic and had babies (long time ago) and had to get animal control to remove them and later a roofer to fix it so she couldn't get back in through the attic grate/vent.

No, I'm still battling with that squirrel. I need the whole shed replaced & haven't been ready to take that step yet. Mainly because it would mean emptying the whole thing out!

My brother called me this evening to tell me my Mom is sinking. She has pneumonia. The Doctors don't think she'll pull through this time, though she rallied the last 2 times she had pneumonia. I know she's elderly, but still. We're so close. Always have been. I can't bear the thought of losing her.

She's gone. I didn't even get to her in time.

Oh, Laura, I am so very sorry!

Right after I lost Mom my Brother was rushed to hospital. Cancer complications. For a while I thought I was gonna lose him too--in the same week. But after an emergency operation, he has rallied. And my Nephew is still struggling. Sometimes I feel it's all too much. I miss my Mom sooo much. She was also my best friend. Funny, right now I keep having all these sad songs of losing someone entering my head. Frank Sinatra's "Cycles" especially, It was one of her favorites. I know. Time will heal they say. Just not right now.

So sorry Laura. The pain sticks around but it does eventually get better.
