Still on a Coney Island kick! : The CYCLONE Roller Coaster remains one of the very few wooden coasters or "woodies" as they are often classified, left in the world! The structure, is made out of a steel lattice or truss, but the ride remains classified as a wooden roller coaster due to the tract design. Here's another front seat "ride-in" that's even betta' than the other I posted. BUCKLE UP! ..it's going to be a bumpy ride!!
-
Woodies?!? I have to admit I've heard that term used in another context (won't say what ), but not for a roller coaster
-
you mean the "surfin' wagons" RIGHT, RICH N????!!!!!!!
-
LOL - the Coney Island Cyclone was just an answer to one of the questions during an episode of 'Cash Cab'. I guess it now costs $6.00 to ride that bad boy now

Sharks are stated to live longer than any other species. While the largest of sharks can esily live up to 100-150 years, the smaller shark species have a life-span of nearly 20-30 years......can't get enough of these majestic creatures!! Great White Shark Jumping -
-
I couldn't get enough of those 'air jaws' videos during Shark Week on the Discovery Channel:-) Unfortunately, sharks also give birth to a small litter and the gestation period is very slow (several months to two years depending on the species). This means that killing one single shark has a much greater impact than killing many fish of a different species.

Trivia you said? OK. Eric Clapton's Tears In Heaven is NOT written about his son. It's written about his Grandpa, who died.

Do you know what date his grandfather may have died? I'm thinking that you might be right in that the song was originally penned in honor of his grandfather, but perhaps never recorded. Then when his son tragically died, he may have resurrected it. The reason I'm speculating in that direction is because back when it was released, it was widely report that the song was in honor of his son...and he never denied it. I speculate the same thing about Paul's Here Today...it was originally written for John no doubt. However, when he sings it today, he gets sometimes gets emotional and I wonder if the message of the song (from Paul's eyes) has taken on a more broad message of missing anyone in his life who 'was always there with a smile'...even Linda, George or whoever. Paul unfortunately has now endured a lot of loss in his life

Heard this on the car radio this morning....Day In History or something.... In 1976 Bright Tune Music sued George Harrison because they said his tune "MY SWEET LORD" sounded too much like 'The Chiffon's' hit 'HE'S SO FINE'. They apparently owned the copyright to it and received "580,000. when a judge ruled that Harrison subconsciously plagerized the song. Harrison (I didn't know this) claimed he got the idea for the song from the 'Edwin Hawkin Singers'....'OH HAPPY DAY"...not HE'S SO FINE. HE'S SO FINE - The Chiffons
O HAPPY DAY - Edwin Hawkin Singers -

Since August 15, 2002, Dylan has been introduced at the beginning of most of his concerts with an announcement made by a member of his stage crew: ? Ladies and gentlemen please welcome the poet laureate of rock 'n' roll. The voice of the promise of the 60s counterculture. The guy who forced folk into bed with rock. Who donned makeup in the 70s and disappeared into a haze of substance abuse. Who emerged to find Jesus. Who was written off as a has-been by the end of the '80s, and who suddenly shifted gears releasing some of the strongest music of his career beginning in the late '90s. Ladies and gentlemen ? Columbia recording artist Bob Dylan![7] Seems a bit unDlyanish to me.
