Headline says it all, doesn't it? Keep me the hell out of Missouri. 80 percent of police force resigns after Missouri town elects first African-American mayor: "Following the election of the town?s first African-American mayor, five of the six officers on a small Missouri town police force resigned en masse, reports KFVS. Former city clerk Tyrus Byrd was sworn in as mayor of Parma, Missouri on Tuesday only to find out that police officers, as well as the city attorney and a water treatment supervisor, had resigned before she took office. According to outgoing Mayor Randall Ramsey, who is stepping down after 37 years in town hall over two terms, the city employees gave no prior notice. ..." http://www.rawstory.com/2015/04/80-percent-of-police-force-resigns-after-missouri-town-elects-first-african-american-mayor/
It says it all Audi...I'm going to stear clear also...

Watching the news conference of the attorney for the police officers and the President of the Fraternal Order of Police of Baltimore, Maryland makes me feel ill. They sound arrogant and ignorant. Just my opinion.

A few days ago I wrote this depressed take on reactions to the events in Baltimore: http://greenlining.org/blog/2015/deja-vu-in-baltimore/ Happily, the fact that the officers were indicted gives me hope, although the insane reactions of some on the American right wing does not. Some of my fellow white people are just effing clueless.

Are the police beating and killing more people or is it just getting more notice because of social media and cameras in every phone?

Former Chicago Cop Fighting to Get Job Back After Offensive Photo Surfaces: "Photography is not a crime, but that doesn?t mean it?s always without consequences, as a Chicago police officer recently learned. Officer Timothy McDermott is fighting to get his job back after an old Polaroid photo surfaced, depicting him and fellow officer and current convict Jerome Finnigan holding hunting rifles while crouched over a black man wearing antlers. McDermott is seen in the photo with his hand around the man?s neck as though he were choking him. The photo was in poor taste at best, especially for a police department with a history of torturing black suspects into false confessions, and resulted in McDermott?s termination...." http://www.politicususa.com/2015/02/20/homeland-security-warns-wing-extremists-equal-greater-threat-isis.html

We had this in Ireland back in the day - the police are no better than a militia, armed by the rich and affluent to carry their war to the poor, physically as well as economically. It ends only one way.

In whatever way you "group" people, there is always the much smaller percentage of them whose sorrowful actions give a bad name to the other 90% of them who do not act in these ways. We need more NEWS coverage of the good things that are going on.
-
Good news doesn't get ratings. We absolved journalists of their responsibility to inform as soon as we demanded that they entertain.

Good news draws far more viewers than not! Anything contrary is just an illusion. The Beatles are a perfect example.

There were some baseball games for charity this last weekend ..... for the children, for playgrounds, for hospitals, for baseball fields and equipment for local areas ..... so many ways to improve the lives of people in the community ..... The Police and Firefighters along with local celebrities were part of this and it did a lot of good ..... it made a blurb of a few seconds on the News if that .....

That's a start...we have to start demanding good news! We're not used to it, so it seems strange at first... Think about it, hearing good news, or something kind, nice or something someone did that gives you an idea of how to play it forward .....and then don't you feel better when you do? And the smiles you can get are the best. It makes you feel more human, part of humanity. Like when your feeling low, and your dog comes over to say hello, cause he just nose how you're feeling... On the subject of this link, I want to say...I will not look the other way...I will film what I see that is going to support the victim. I will stand up, and speak up for the proper treatment of all people who could be me... Like Paul's chorus...We All Stand Together!

The Beatles are not technically journalists.
