Hi, there's a big hoo-har regarding death-trap nursing homes and care homes in the UK currently. We have film footage of 'carers' taunting and humiliating elderly residents who are incapable of speaking up. The Care Quality Commission is understaffed and does not even post negative reports it makes of disgraced nursing homes. Social Services are MIA and act like the Stasi of Social Care. If you take your relative out of a death-trap nursing home to get her back with you, they have the power to turn up on the doorstep and reinstate them. They actually seem to side with their death-trap nursing homes and against concerned relatives. Merok Park and Grantley Court in Banstead, Surrey, are two such nursing homes - both were shut down by the CQC - and Firtree Nursing Home in the same town I have had personal experience of. If you live in the UK, please can you sign the petition found at the foot of this news story? Sadly, it appears the lady's mother died only this week, and she has started the petition but it needs a lot more signatures for the issue to be debated in Parliament... http://www.epsomguardian.co.uk/news/11799626.Daughter_of_woman_placed_in_failing_nursing_home_launches_petition_for_judge_led_inquiry_into_care_homes_crisis/?ref=rss Many thanks
