NEW TECHNOLOGY

I remember watching that a long time ago as well. Here it is! They used gasoline as the float ballast. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bathyscaphe_Trieste "Bathyscaphe Trieste ... Italian-built deep-diving research bathyscaphe, ... one of the outer Plexiglas window panes cracked, ..."
It was quite interesting to me, their using the gasoline as float ballast. The smell might have been horrible, I wondered if it was? What a disappointment getting all the way to the bottom, about to see some bottom dwelling fish, and then all that silt stirred up!!
The gasoline is sealed tightly in the float completely separate from the bathyscaphe the crew is in.

Wasn't thinking that there would be no oxygen to cause a fire down there since it was sealed so tightly. When it landed on the bottom, then it was resting on the bathyscaphe only, then. Just saw this about the James Webb Space Telescope! www.nasa.gov/feature/goddard/2016/nasa-marks-major-milestones-for-the-james-webb-space-telescope#.VvPkehDRxp4 Interesting, the things they had to do to keep the size and weight down....to get it into space!

CRYOGENICS TESTING I Guess We Could Log That Up As... SUPER Thanks for the update L2T !!!
-
It's facinating to watch it come together and also the speed at which it needs to be deployed before it freezes up!

It doesn't land on the bottom silly. It hovers and glides over the bottom of the ocean so that people in the bathyscaphe can observe and record images. It's not like they are going to exit the craft in an environment where the pressures are thousands of pounds per square inch.

It's fascinating to watch it come together and also the speed at which it needs to be deployed before it freezes up!
There are over 300 various actions that need to occur in precise and uniform timeliness. It reminds me of the timely sequence of events with the last mars rover. It was amazing to watch it in the simulation video. It's amazing what today's technology can accomplish.

It's mind boggling all the many steps involved to make it work! I just saw that one too! Just saw this one of the James Webb unfolding in space...it's like a ballet...great music along with it!
So many steps involved...a true marvel of technology! -
^ I can't wait for the pics and to hopefully study them on a 4k pixel HD Monitor.

There's a weasel in the works! Weasel shut's down CERN's Hadron Collider! http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-36173247 He evidently got into the wiring. I wonder if he left any weasel "particles" laying around if he got shocked.
-
Webb Telescope Mirror was featured on APOD today! http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap160509.html
-
^ That's such a cool APOD. Thanks for posting it.

Weasel particles, the missing ingredient
-
I hope they don't try to collide 2 weasel droppings. If it caused a Big Bang, what kind of Universe would that create?
-
NOx ious gas Universe I keep thinking about how beautiful that James Webb telescope is...

I keep watching these stories of planes crashing into the water, sometimes thousands of yards/meters of water, and then we send deep sea diving equipment to hopefully recover the (black box) flight recorder information. Why are these information recorders not designed to be ejected from the plane upon impact, with a few bright green and orange flotation balloons attached to them?

Another great idea! That sure would have been a great idea with that Maylaysian plane they can't find! Maybe they could use an ejection device similar to those military ones that eject the pilots of military jets. That Genius Show with Hawking was great, BTW thanks!

There's another 1 or 2 shows on tonight, I believe! That recorder ejection device could be built respecting all situational variables. We Have the technology!!!

There you go, patent it! Will watch them this weekend, I'm working a lot now! Great show!

Thanks for witnessing and confirming my idea on an international web board...Time dated and everything! Stephen's shows 3 & 4 were super excellent as well!!!! Really great show!!! There's been a handful of bloopers although, that only the highly trained ear could catch! They Are Excellent!...You Will Love Them!!!

Will watch on the weekend, working doubles for everyone who is off! That is a great show, I'll have to see if I can catch those bloopers!
