I saw on a site - a 3D printer where the pen Draws in the air. They were printing skeletons Of buildings. It could be used for art too. * I would get a kick out of designing an Idea and watching it appear or for my fun Of it ... A cartoon. Reminded me of Clyde Crashcup where His drawings came to life.

I saw a news segment on that awhile back as well! VERY COOL!!!

^ That does sound really cool So what does the n stand for in your equation?!

Actually, I was in a hurry and that was just an attempt at creatively saying, "and". It's not an equation per say.

They finally got the Bigelow Expandable Module to expand, after the initial try. There's a cool video! http://www.extremetech.com/extreme/229386-nasa-successfully-inflates-beam-the-new-iss-habitation-module-with-video

^ I have some absolutely excellent news for you L2T!!! Heard on the news last night, that Google co-founder Larry Page is building FLYING CARS!!! I guess he has "mucho dinero" invested into it. http://www.msn.com/en-us/money/careersandeducation/googles-larry-page-has-spent-dollar100-million-to-make-flying-cars/vi-AAgQQEB

That is excellent news!! If you get one, you'll have to take me for a test drive...after you have it figured out, that is... I've wanted a flying car since the Jetsons Si Se?or...es mucho dinero!!!

It would be a lot more fun, if you were to ride with me, "while" I was figuring it out! ps... I heard on the news last night that they have found and deciphered a 3500 character "user's manual" for the Antikythera Mechanism. Even though the complex machine was designed around the premise that the sun revolved around the earth...It is still very cool and precise in many of it's functions.

Got any neat links or info?I prefer to use my pedal powered bike; keeps my heart strong

Ride with you "while" Oh sure... and read you the directions...?!? Very cool about the "user's manual" Have seen a you tube about the initial Scanner which they had to take to the AM, since it was too delicate to move. Also saw a video about someone who developed a working mechanism of the gears, due to precise measurements of the gears and working it out mathmatically. Didn't realise there were instructions on the inside door!! Interesting about the colors, hope they find the missing pieces, in the ocean, from 1901 http://www.seeker.com/scholars-decode-mystery-of-the-antikythera-mechanism-1851968664.html

I agree. I enjoy riding my touring 10 speed for that reason.

I keep watching these stories of planes crashing into the water, sometimes thousands of yards/meters of water, and then we send deep sea diving equipment to hopefully recover the (black box) flight recorder information. Why are these information recorders not designed to be ejected from the plane upon impact, with a few bright green and orange flotation balloons attached to them?
Another great idea! That sure would have been a great idea with that Maylaysian plane they can't find! Maybe they could use an ejection device similar to those military ones that eject the pilots of military jets. That Genius Show with Hawking was great, BTW thanks!
They just found the recorders of the most recent crash yesterday. I have refined my idea on this. They could mount a small aerodynamic tube near the rear of a plane in a strategic position with an ejectable missle shaped cylinder inside that houses a computer networked to the plane's standard recorders. It could have it's own autonomous system to detect altitude and other variables and to "know" when to deploy itself. It wouldn't have to be very large. One foot diameter balloons alternating colors in a 6 to 8ft. diameter circle with solar panel sheet plastic in the middle and the floatable waterproof flight recording info tube tethered individually to each balloon. GPS capable of course. Because the balloons would form a halo like circle and in regard to the nature of their service. I would call it something like... FR HALO 1 ...Flight Recorder Halo One

I knew you would think of something really interesting! Sounds good, I like the solar panel
-
^^^ The greatest thing about it is that it would allow us to find the plane and hopefully survivors sooner. It would cut down on the time and energy directed toward search efforts and redirect that energy toward rescue and recovery efforts. Have been refining the design in my mind. Yes, the inner ring could act a parachute with 'thin film solar cells' attached in some manner, so as to keep electricity available. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thin-film_solar_cell

Go For It!!! great idea, aerodynamically it would have to be integrated into the smooth surface of the plane, wouldn't it?

No, didn't you ever see the space shuttle on top of a plane??? ps......Doesn't that appear to be what I am doing??? Actually, it should be outside and the aerodynamic launch tube secured to the frame of the plane. Information would be fed to HALO's computer from the inboard flight recorders and other sensors. It should be autonomous and have it's own sensors and programming independent of the plane's so that it would know when to deploy itself. GPS would play a big part in it being able to determine that something is wrong and that the plane is about to crash.

A mini space shuttle!! I was just trying to imagine it... Wondering about the drag created etc. It's really a fantastic idea and please keep us updated!! I kind of like the mini space shuttle idea you've just put in my mind! also trying to imagine the balloons and solar panel, which sounds like an excellent idea!! As the signals always seem to run down, don't they? Also the GPS would be brilliant as it could determine if the plane is behaving erratically. Perhaps sending a warning, in case of everyone passed out, which they think may have happened in the Malaysian plane...one theory anyway. If it acted independently, then any potential hijackers couldn't disable it as well. Lots of great ideas, on an antiquated system.
-
^ Exactly...and thanks for your input (((L2T))). Have had a few more ideas on it. Here's a rough visual of the basic idea. When deployed it will look like a parachute about 2 yards/meters wide. The chute material will be able to convert sunlight to electricity. Around the perimeter will be about 20 light bright green and alternating bright orange 1 ft. diameter balloons that will inflate on deployment. They will be secured to each other and the solar chute forming a ring.. About every 2 ft. around the perimeter a chute line (about 10 of them) will extend down and a 2 to 3 ft. long 4 to 5" diameter floatable high impact water proof tube will contain a computer, all the flight data, GPS and other instrumentation. Whether it is right side up or turned upside down by waves the solar cells should be designed to stay operable. The new idea I had was to have an led light in each balloon and the data cylinder to illuminate them at night. They could be programmed to blink in patterns to make them easier to spot. The chute lines would work well for a grappling hook to retrieve the unit.

"Lots of great ideas, on an antiquated system." ~ L2T They just now got the retrieved recorders from the bottom of the ocean of the plane that went down in May, restored and working. Yes, we do need an upgrade! Hope someone in Aviation reads this and pm's me. I'm refining and broadening the general concept...as well.
