After reading Paul's end of year interview, looked up when 12th night was. It is either Jan. 5 or 6. There seems to be some dispute. Sir Paul says tree/decorations have to come down then. Glad I found out. Had not realized. Still do not know why 12th night. Does that mean people in the UK put their trees UP 12 nights BEFORE Jan. 5 or 6, whichever it is?
Jan. 6th is 12th night. Depends on culture & family traditions. When I was a child, my mother used to call 12th night "Little Christmas" & we always kept our tree up til then.
Thanks Gypsy Girl. When would you put up your tree?
We put up our tree shortly after Thanksgiving. It's a realistic artificial one. This gives us time to enjoy it before all the holiday "madness" begins.

I find all of these "traditions" fascinating. As Sir Paul said, you tend to do it the way you were brought up. I certainly do, not consciously, but I put ours up when I'm sufficiently in the "Christmas spirit," usually maybe 10-14 days before Christmas. That is exactly the way my mom did it. One of my aunts would always put up a gigantic tree right after Thanksgiving, spraying it white, most years, and decorating with very pretty, expensive ornaments. I love ornaments, too, but gave away my collection to our nieces/nephews one Christmas. Now, I'm mostly into lights. A Christmas tree with lights is very peaceful at night. I like to turn off the other lights and sit in the living room and absorb the beauty and grace and peace.

When it's miserably freezing cold & the windshield on your vehicle is full of ice, turning on the engine, blasting heat & defrost helps making scraping the ice off easier.

Just don't try to roll down your electric windows before you do that... That's how I somehow broke my window from rolling up and down, and it was only a little bit of frost too!!
I've learned not to drink wine and paint for the first time!!

I learned that it was snowing when taking the trash out.
It flurried here on & off. On when I went for a walk at the park...of course.

That the new guy prefers petite, voluptuous, but in shape women. Like old Hollywood sexy. Good for me, cause I will never be a tall, skinny model type. He likes my a$$ets.
